Howdy! I posted my results on another thread but figured it would get more traction here.

I just received my ICP results from ATI and had a question or two…

The following elements were low:

Sulfur
Calcium
Bromine
Strontium
Boron
Flourine (Critically Low)
Lithium
Iodine (Critically Low)
Barium (Critically Low)
Rubidium
Manganese
Iron

Vanadium was listed at critically high, but I have read that vanadium isn’t really that big of a deal.

I have a Magnifica anemone and a couple of months ago it went through a bleaching phase.

Are theses parameters what could have caused it?

I have attached the pdf of my results.

A water change seems to be in order. How do you maintain the big three? Alkalinity, Calcium and Magnesium? Red Sea Trace Colors A contains Iodine, Bromine and Fluorine, if you want to dose them. It is a good product.

Currently through water changes every other week.

I have RS Foundations but have yet to use it, for fear of messing things up as other than the nem issue everything seems to be doing good.

Do you dose anything at the moment?

A trace element mix such as TM A and K might be useful.

I don’t see any big issues. Calcium is low. Ignore barium and rubidium. They have no known need in any organism.

I dose seachem fuel occasionally but other than that no.

Is the Vanadium, Iodine and Flourine levels of any concern?

I’m uncertain of the utility of fluoride. It is incorporated into any sort of depositing calcium carbonate, but whether that provides a benefit is unclear to me. Folks dosing it seem mixed and not in agreement on what the benefits are, if any. Nothing wrong with maintaining it, regardless.

I’m also somewhat unconvinced on the benefits of iodine, but it is more plausibly useful and I recommend at least experimenting with it in your tank to see if it changes anything when dosed.

It’s odd that the vanadium alone is that high. I’d personally stop the fuel and use something else, although I’m not sure it is the main source.

I was researching this a couple months before I purchased my Mag and Dr Mac at PEA mentioned on a old thread that Iodine plays a critical role in his Anemone holding tank. He mentioned he doses ESV Iodine depending on his ICP result every month or two. If I find the post where he talks about this I'll link on here. If I remember correctly he aims for 60μg/l

This is what plan on keeping an eye on and testing after I get my Mag in my DT.

I have seen Dr Mac make that claim. It is on his web site. I’m not sure if it is true, but maintaining iodine is a fine plan.

FWIW, I kept two giganteas for years with no iodine dosing and they grew from small to quite large. I understand he may be referring to magnificas, but I think there is uncertainty in the iodine claims that
Many folks make.

I agree with your point. From reading old threads on reef central and on here, it's definitely a mix of opinions on it.
