Hi I’m looking for help. I recently received two bubble tip anemones for free the anemone in the pic is shriveled up and mouth looks like it’s open while the second much smaller anemone looks fine just closed up due to the light being off (don’t have a pic of it at the moment). But I love had both for almost a week and they won’t attach to the rock so I can’t turn my power head of or they’ll just float around. So I’m look for anything help/suggestion since this is my first time dealing with anemones. I went to my LFS to get my parameters tested and here’s the result in the pic

I do not have an anemone but I'm fairly certain that those who have anemones (from reading other threads) are going to say that the tank is much too new for them.

How long have you tried to get it attached? I would make sure you have protection on your powerhead so it can not get sucked up. Just leave them on a spot where you would like them approximately and leave them alone for a couple of days.

Need some more information, full tank shot, lighting setup, how long has the tank been running...
Also... with no Nitrates or phosphates... that's a bit too clean for my liking....

@OrionN may be able to help.

If your LFS is still advising that zero nitrate and phosphate is "good", I'd be looking for a new LFS 🙂

That's a red flag in my book if they are telling you that nitrate and phosphates being zero are good. I would get your own test kits (not API) and test the water for yourself. I would start by raising your nitrates and your phosphates.

How old is your tank?

What about the lights you are using?

How is the rest of your tank doing?

For almost a week I have the ai Nero 3 and it’s been off the whole time I’m had them in the tank.

im having a very hard time believing you have 0 nitrate, unless your tank is either green, or you been using some form of nitrate sponge like a lot of macro / refugium / ATS.

Nitrate and Phosphate bottoming to 0 itself is not a good thing, and also very hard to pull off naturally, unless you actually are trying to pull it.

If these 2 values bottomed to 0, id be more worried about this, because its a sign that ur gonna see a red carpet coming in soon, unless your tank is setup for a ULN setup. (Ultra Low Nutrient)

Honestly I just go to them for premade water/RO water and supplies. But the tanks been running for over 5+ months now. I have the redsea test kits currently saving up for the Hanna ones now. But I’m using the ai prime reef 16HD light I’ll post a pic of my light settings and I have a hammer coral but it arrived with a hole in the bag and lots of water leaked out so wasn’t doing too good but better than what it was before. The smaller green anemone looks better than the rainbow but does open up as much. Would Neonitro and Neophos help in a quick timeframe

Impossible.. u have fish... and your rocks aren't caked green.. and ur saying you have 0 nitrates and phosphate?
Also your tank seems a little too clean for 5 months... Can you test salinity as well?

Retest with Salfert, or your Red Sea kit... that LFS is probably using freshwater API test on it, and getting false values.

Would Neonitro and Neophos help in a quick timeframe

NO... and NO... and again NO...
not until you know what your real tank params are.

Do not add anything except possibly some rox carbon incase you got a foreign chemical that fell in.
But do not do anything to your chemistry until you found out what your true starting point is.

I do water changes every 2 weeks and my filtration only consist of filter floss and seachem matrix. I have the Hanna salinity tester I calibrated it and it says 1.024. But I’ll definitely retest

You really want to be at 1.026 sg or 35 ppt salinity. What’s your flow like? Too much or too little will certainly make them move.

I have the ai Nero 3 but currently off due to the anemones not attaching to the rocks only flow I have are coming from the town return pumps at the moment

I hope the nem makes it! I bought two BTAs at the 5-6 month mark and had similar parameters like you. They both survived for another 6 months and then both died rather quickly - no idea why.

The age of the tank is meant to be for the mature biome , to me the tank looks like it still needs to go through some stages I would expect some coraline growth for example and more algae present. I started with all live rocks because the cycle can take a very long time , not the normal ammonia - nitrate cycle . I started this tank in August, you also should elevate nitrate and phosphate as anemones can pull from the water column to help feed / heal
