Don,
We have new construction going on close by.
All the sudden I was burning thru DI resin really fast.
Used to used the regular sediment filter, but gave this one a shot and my DI resin has been last lasting longer.
https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/ge-rosave-z-depth-sediment-filter.html

Don't know if it will do the job for you, but it may be worth a shot.
I'm using the 1 micron in the above link.

Thanks Freddie. Yep, new construction going on around us too. I'll place a order for one and see if it helps cut down on burning through the DI.

thanks again.

Don,

(lol)
I'm a ;Oldman and

What's the blackout for?

:)

Freddy, Diatoms running rampant on my sand bed. Vacuumed the sand, did a 25 gallon water change, slapped some GFO in the reactor and added the gyre. WAY BETTER NOW! Lights where on all day and they haven't returned! Fingers crossed! Lol.

Personally, I think it had a lot to do with lack of flow and of course some silicates/nutrients.
Well,
I forgot :( to check the ole TDS meter... twice ;Wacky
Silicates got into the reef and boom, diatoms.

:)

Well they are building so many new houses around us. My subdivision has been done for a few years now, but all around us they can build them fast enough. That's why I'm seeing this pop up now. Tap water is clear and tastes good as always, but smells sometimes like dirt. Go figure.

Update: first of all I have to say I need a better way to take photos! I'm thinking of buying a filter for my Android phone, as I'm always using it to take pictures.

So with that said, I don't have any pictures of what is new in my tank.

What's new? Well me and the wife went to the local club's spring frag swap yesterday and I got a unbelievable colored acan frag with five heads, a orange digitata frag and a red star fish. It was a great day! All doing very well in the DT.

Then over to Seascape studios and I brought a Solon wrasse and pearly jaw fish. Both doing very well and eating like pigs!

Dang it! I need a good way to take pictures! I'll work on it!

Sounds like a productive day of acquiring some nice livestock! I was looking back at some old pics I took of my past tanks and noticed how much nicer they were than anything I can take now. The difference? Metal halide lights. :)
