Hello all.

I wanted to start this thread since I started plumbing my 5 gallon Fluval into my 80 gallon cube setup. The plan is to make a dwarf seahorse tank out of the 5 gallon (since it is on my desk and something calming to watch while I work).

Right now I'm still thinking about what light I want to put over this since I'm not going to be growing coral in it. I am currently thinking about hanging a Orphek PR72 light over the tank. I think it would look beautiful and still be controlled by my Apex controller (a requirement).

To control the temperature going to the tank, I'm going to experiment with a 3D printed plastic heatsink. I understand that plastic is not the ideal heatsink, but I also want something easy to work with (I have access to a 3d printer).

I drilled the tank for a 3/4" drain and a 1/2" return:

This is currently the return's path from the sump:

Since I am currently focused on fixing the 80 gallon setup, I wanted to say that I am sorry for when this post doesn't get the attention that it needs, but I WILL update this post as I make progress. It might be boring progress...but it will be progress. :squigglemouth:

I'm still wanting to grow macro algae in it. From my experience in the past, the macro algae didn't like that light wavelength...that and it's not controllable through the Apex without modifications.

Others may have had luck with the light's wavelength, but I haven't...
