I set up this tank as a bit of a gesture to myself for doing well on the LSAT a few years ago. Since then, it’s survived 3 moves, many crashes, and a switch out of law school and back to my old career. To say the least, it’s kept my mind straight through some rough times. It’s just a bit over the top in my opinion especially given the size, but I was bored and in need of a distraction.
Equipment:
Tank: Fluval Flex 9 gallon
Lighting: XR15 blue + Ai Blade
Return Pump: Sicce Syncra Silent 1.0
Powerhead: 2 x hygger Mini Wave Maker Magnetic DC Powerhead
Skimmer: ReefGlass nano skimmer
Heater: 2 x run of the mill heaters
Controller: Hydros X4
ATO: 2 x Hydros ATO’s (1 salt top off, 1 fresh)
Dosing: RedSea Dose 4
Testing: Reef Kinetics ReefBot Lab
Livestock:
Fish: Ocellaris Clown (yes I know it’s too big for the tank, I should take it out at some point)
Invertebrates: 1 x Crocea Clam, 1 x Tuxedo Urchin, 1 x Halloween Hermit, 1 x Turbo Snail, 1 x some other snail
Coral: (I don’t know if I can capture all of them but I’ll try, I’m terrible with names)
Acropora: Bali Green Slimer, PTR Pikachu, PTR Blue Balls, PC Superman, PTR Blueberry, Red Planet, PTR Flaninf Unicorn Farts
Montipora: Green Digitata, Forest Fire Digitata, Red and Green grafted digitata, Some weird Brown digi from WWC (it’s ugly but I can’t get it out), WWC Spongodes, Tidal Gardens Electric Lemonade Anacropora forbesi, Red Setosa (I think),
Other LPS Corals: WWC The Grinch Porites Coral, Some random Aussie Lord (I think), Tidal Gardens Fireworks Psammocora, Tidal Gardens Green Hydnophora, Lava Flow Leptoseris, Warpaint Scolymia, Pink Scolymia, Mummy eye Chalice, Blue Goniopora, Free rescued Goniopora, Meteor shower cyphastrea, Jason Fox Master PPE Cyphastrea Coral, Rasta Zoas + 3 or 4 other Zoanthids, Green Star Polyps
NPS Coral: Walking Dendro
Methods Used: Reef Moonshiners (ICP tested bi-monthly)
Feeding 3x a day a mix of different foods
I am not very good at taking pictures and I just moved the tank to a new stand with a DIY controller cabinet made from aluminum T slot.
I’d be happy to add more details if anyone is interested. I have some future plans to really push things over the top.
