Hi all, my new red sea reefer 350 is almost cycled and ill be moving over my corals and fish that j currently have in my 180l tank. Im considering a one spot foxface for the centrepiece of the new tank. Just wondering it it would be ok in a tank that size and shape? The display tank is 270l or 72 us gallons. Its 4ft length.

The stock moving into the new tank from my current tank are:

2x clownfish
1x longnose hawkfish
1x midas blenny
Snails and cleaner shrimp
Large kenya tree
Multiple mushrooms
Gsp
Xenia
Toadstool

Also considering adding a 6 line wrase and a watchman goby to the new tank.

Whats peoples opinions on a one spot as a centre peice fish? Also i know they are reef safe with casution so gow at risk are my corals?

Also open to any other ideas for a similar centre peice fish 😊

Hello,

I have a fox face in my 4 foot tank, however it's 115g so there's a lot more room on other dimensions of the tank. I got my foxface pretty small, and in only a few months it has grown a lot. So keep that in mind. Whether or not you can get it really depends on the other dimensions, but you most likely could get away with it. But, if it does end up looking too big for the tank and stressed, then you'd have to re-home it with no second thought.

As for your corals, you should be fine. But it really does depend on the individual fish and how well it's fed. So if you do get one, make sure it has unlimited access to nori, with lots of different foods being offered.

Thanks for the comments so far. I'd be looking at a one spot which hopefully should be about an inch smaller than the regular foxface so hopefully that will help. I dont really intend on adding anymore corals as the ones i have are growing well. They dont take up too much room I'll try and keep rockwork to a minimum so theres more free swimming space, and lay the rocks out so it has space at the front of the tank and the back. Also my other fish arent really free swimmers so should mean more free swimming space for a foxface without it feeling to cramped. Clowns are hosted by the mushrooms at the moment so dont move far from them. Hawkfish purches and the blennie comes out then goes in his hole.

Other options im considering instead of a foxface are a coral beauty, but seems to be more likely to go after corals or possibly a tomini or kole tang but they are both prone to ich (as i have previously experienced 😬)
