I use charcoal I buy at petco or petsmart, Wal-Mart may have it. I buy bulk, pour a small amount into a knee high stocking, tie and cut the ends off, rinse in fresh water, put in sock. Remove in a day or two. Please research use of charcoal prior to use.

Need to give this a shot. Could I use GFO pellet?

Do not know I have never used GFO for that purpose.

When my water becomes cloudy I just use the interventions I posted previously. I feed a lot and my tank is a 40 as well. Now my tank has a ton bacterial filtration and is 7 months old.

Your tank looks young and without live rock? Think about adding some LR or other medium to boost biological filtration.

I have like 30lb of live rock in the sump.

First thing I would do is go to Petco and get a Little Green Machine UV light.
Put it in and see if it is clear in the morning. More than likely it's a bacterial bloom.
Yes, it may cost you $50 but it's the best $50 you'll spend.
