Hello,

I am getting a custom stand from FramingTech for a larger build. The aquarium with water and rocks/sand ect will weigh about 3000lbs. They said they would design the stand to hold 3500-4000lbs.

Am I over thinking that I want the stand to support at least double the weight of the tank?

Yes, I don't think it needs to be able to support double the weight. That's a 33% safety margin built-in - and we're talking aluminum, after all. You can certainly over-engineer it - I'm just not sure you'll see any return on your investment (including peace of mind).

Did you end up buying from them? I was just getting a quote from them for a 120x36x30 tank.

If you did I’d love to know how much you paid for shipping because they said $1,000 but told me it was a rough estimate and they wouldn’t know until it was packaged

Yes I did, shipping was 300$ about, you are well past the oversized parcel limit so you will pay much more. My estimate was more than the final price though.

Geez, at that point I might just see if Tenecor can work with me on getting one made and pick it up locally

Yep, tell me about it, BRS has had a grip on my card the last few weeks lol. I’d just rather save on the shipping if I can just pick up locally

When to mix up fish meal: When was the last time you tried a different brand of food for your reef?
