I have an IM Nuvo 25 Lagoon that I started cycling. Yesterday evening I dosed 1 tsp of Fritz fishless fuel ammonia to reach 2 ppm as per the bottles instructions. Then I added 1 oz. Of the Fritzzyme Turbostart 900. Tonight's levels seem to be ph=8.0, Ammonia=0.5, and Nitrite=5.0, am I reading these tests correctly? I originally just tested Ammonia and Nitrite, but the Ammonia seemed low for the beginning of a cycle so I retested them both and added the pH.

Looks closer to 1 to me. PH looks good. Once the ammonia is in the yellow you’re good to add a fish. Just go slow and give your system time to respond. Start with something hardy like a clown.

It's only been 24 hours, should I be concerned it dropped so much already? All of the videos I watched made it seem like even with the Turbostart it would take closer to 9 days to fully cycle.

Don’t be concerned. In fact I wouldn’t even test again until the 9th day and if it’s at 0 ammonia it’s ok to add a fish. Just go slow and don’t feel like you have to add light until you’re ready to add coral.

I like to watch for nitrates. When i see nitrates I move forward slowly. I don't own ammonia or nitrite test
Thank you! I'll definitely be testing Nitrate tonight! I'll probably keep doing the other 2 as well since I'm using it as a science lesson for the kids.

Absolutely, teach them the correct way and let them find their own shortcuts ;)

PS. It very early so there may not be any nitrates yet. I'm far from an expert but I like to see the presence of nitrate before I add fish.

This was last night's results, so I'd say there's plenty of nitrate in there 🤣

The reason I don't recommend nitrate testing in this situation is that the 5 ppm nitrite will read on any home kit as a lot of nitrate. That's just the way they work, and back determining the real amount of nitrate is only possible with those few kits that give a correction table. Tropic Marin is the only one I know if that supplies this info.
