Frogspawn or Rip Off?

I was sold a Frogspawn from one of my LFS and I went to another one, (that I kind of trust a bit more) to get some Torch Coral and saw the same coral I got sold as a Frogspawn. The owner said it is a Torch and not a Frogspawn. Here are some pics:

They did have a bunch of Frogspawn so I bought one, but now I don't know looking at them online. Is this a Frogspawn?

And is the top one a Torch or a Frogspawn? I am really confused now and feel taken advantage of since I do not have much experience and a bit embarrassed that I may have been ripped off.

It was $10 more a head since it sold as a "Frogspawn and there are 4 heads so it wasn't much. but still not cool. :(:(

Torch's are pretty expensive here, but for some reason Frogspawn is the most expensive Euphyllia and is usually gone the same day it shows up in the local stores.

They both look like frogspawn to me just different varieties.

I have never seen a torch cost less than a frogspawn if compared examples are of similar color rarity.

I base it on colors as well as appearance. I have the torch coral colors that are in the first 2 pictures and I have a frogspawn that has similar colors as the bottom picture.
IMO you were not ripped off.
Right now Torch corals seem to be much more expensive.

That's what I was thinking also, after examining it for a long time I don't see any branching in the top one that seems to be common in all the Frogspawn I am seeing online and the bottom one does have a few that have multiple tips, (for lack of a better description)

I guess I shouldn't have said, "ripped off" but misinformed. It just sucks that an LFS that specializes in saltwater fish and coral would be selling things as something they are not. I am new to corals and while I do my fair share of research, I have to be able to have some amount of trust that the people selling them to me know what they are selling. I am not at all disappointing with the coral, just disappointed that I was misinformed. :(

Agree - torch coral tends to have longer darker and less bunched together tentacles - with the most color directly at the 'tip'. Frogspawn can have color at the tip - but it tends to have color on the tentacles as well (sometimes green/blue) compared to the torch.

These are my frogspawn yours looks like torch corals it’s funny that frogspawn cost more by you here frogspawn go for $15-30 a head but torches from $80-100 a head

It was probably not intentional , not everyone in this hobby is an expert on all corals or fish. At least they have exactly the same care.

Not the corals you are talking about but an idea why this can be so difficult.

In all fairness, they look like frogspawn with the small round heads. Maybe when they open right out you can send us a pic.

top two picks looks just like a frogspawn i got from cherry corals, it's a indo the tentacles are longer than normal but not as long as most torch & the color is mostly at the tip like a torch, the tentacles don't branch like most frogspawn, it's not a vary common type of frogspawn & i had never seen one before buying it from them but i trust Todd & Brett know their coral, it looks like it's fully open in the pic's if it's the same type i have that's about the full extension of the one i have. i will try to get a pic of mine for you when the lights come on later today. & you can judge for yourself if you think it's the same as mine, as i'm not a expert in coral ID.

Torch have long tentacles (similar to nems almost like a condi) generally ime.. i prefer hammers n frogs but every one has their own eye for their reef. Keep on reefin n let it get ginormous hah either way it's pretty!

all of those look lile frog spawns to me without seeing it in person. The skeletal structure simply doesnt look like a torch to me. Your all blue light8ng doesnt help i.d corals either.. i wish ppl would take pics without blue lighting

These are my frogspawns and my purple torch in one pic.. and as you csn see my drog spawn have long thing tentacles as well.

There are a few types of frogspawns.. He has the type i have.. They arent torch corals.
