So I'm about done with plumbing my 120 but I was wondering if it was ok to use water form my 55 to cycle the 120? I'm not adding any rock from the 55 nor will I be using live rock in the new setup...all dry base rock, no unwanted surprises...(save our reefs) :hippie::focus: ....thoughts?

You can if you wish other than saving water there would be no advantage to it.

I probably would use a piece of live rock and your water - it won't necessarily cycle faster but gives some beneficial bacteria to spread into the new tank.

Water doesn't contain the beneficial bacteria, you would have to use a piece of live rock from the 55 to seed the 120.
