My tank is almost finished cycling (ammonia is 0, nitrites around 0.5, maybe a little higher) and I’m hopeful it’ll be ready for its first inhabitant this weekend.

Unless given a good reason not to, I am planning to do a water change before I put in a clown. A couple of questions regarding this first water change:
- do I need to let things settle after the water change before introducing the fish or can I float the bag in the tank to start temperature acclimation while I’m doing the water change?
- I have a little bit of Accurasea1 salt left from my start up kit, but I don’t think it’s enough for the water change. Can I mix salt brands during the change or should I look out for anything while doing this?

How long has the tank been cycling?
What process did you use to cycle the tank?
To error on the side if caution I would do the water change the day prior to the purchase of your first fish.
You can mix the salts.

Started a fishless cycle using Reef Casa’s bottled bacteria and ammonia just over 3 and a half weeks ago.

Water change would be fine. Just make sure you have detectible nitrates in your tank, and no ammonia, and you will be good to go with adding fish!
