Getting rid of hydroids?

I have some hydroids..they dont harm corals, but they slow their growth and look bad...

How can i get rid of them?

I would try manual removal asap if it hasn't gotten out of control yet. I haven't heard of any biological controls for them. If you ever see little jellyfish (2-3mm) jetting around your tank they are one of the reproductive cycles of hydroids. The jellyfish spread the hydroids. I always used to think the mini jellyfishes were great, lol, I was pretty nieve, lol.

i saw those jellys..when i first set up the tank..now i just have the hydroids...can i just scrub them off with a wire brush?

The jellyfish will probably return when it comes times for the hydroids to spread. You gotta get em before that happens! I bet a wire brush would work. I'm a big fan of scraping with something like a knife. Be careful they are probably hiding deep within your liverock. If you do operate id remove some of that bryopsis also if your deep into breaking apart your rockwork.

would a uv light help reduce the amount of them..i dont mind a small amount but once they colonize it is annoying:doubt:
