About to pull the trigger but would like some feedback on experience with this fish. I've not known anyone keeping this fish but have heard from some that are not too difficult to feed. Has anyone found that size matters, I've found alot of angels collected at a larger size not do as well. Is there a sweet spot in size that these guys do best when 1st introduced. I have fish now once grown that would have a hefty price tag, but I've never made an initial purchase of this price tag; so i am a little apprehensive.

This is for a fish only tank?

We have had a goldflake (currently 5-6") in our SPS dominant
Gold Flake 2.jpg
reef for the past 2 years. He also has blue face (3 years), regal (3 years), flame (4 years), potters (1 year) Moorish idol (2 years) in our reef and have had no issues with most coral - we did have a couple of zoa colonies disappear but not sure who the culprit was. He is one of my favorites - beautiful fish and an easy keeper too.

What did you guys get him eating when you 1st got him. He is nibbling but not eating anything with gusto. I don't mind getting him a sponge to settle him in; what type of sponge does he eat, i know they don't eat all sponges. What about live black worms; I know they are fatty, I have never fed any of my fish these,

Ours ate immediately - we feed nori, NLS pellets and a DIY frozen mix. For our Moorish Idol and regal angel we fed live clams (From grocery store) for the first few weeks but didn't for the Goldflake.

I've got a bad feeling, I definitely have buyers remorse. I have a leopard wrasse and 6 fish that I feed live foods, but this fish is getting on my bad side. I've tried everything that I feed 5 different tanks, at least 6 different varieties of food. He literally inspects every single piece of food and just nibbles a couple of pieces here or there. He has been eating live black worms but I don't want him just to only eat that, he will not get them in the dt. He took some scallop yesterday but no so much today. It's been a while since I've added anything to my 210 so I'm not sure if a 5" fish is really getting enough to eat, my current fish are all just plain ole pigs. I also added a rock with gracillia and micro algae from my macro tank, nothing. I think I'm going to learn an expensive lesson.

It takes some time. As long as he eats something there is hope. Mine was eating before he arrived so it didn’t take much effort. It is generally an easy feeder anyway so be patient. Please keep us posted.

He died, he came in with a sever parasitic infestation and I couldn't pull him through.
