If not for anemones I wouldn't have a reef tank.

After having a variety of them from the magnifica, to carpets, and even Condys .......

The ONLY anemone I would ever keep is a Long Tentacle.

Don't like splitters. Carpets are fish killers. Seabaes are fish killers. Magnifica is an all around PITA.

I can keep a LTA put. Doesn't split. It visually dominates it's area of the tank. It's just a nice all around anemone and it's easy to keep.

If you rock in it solidly it won't move. It won't climb over rocks and the only time they let go is if you have serious water quality issues.

RFA's are also good. Not fish killers and don't move much.

Anemones are the reason for having a reef! Doing well with rfa, BTA , lta, and h. Aurora in same system. Added a condy nem not too long ago and it’s doing well, didn’t know they could be green lol

In the last reef tank we had a 225 acrylic tank that held Rose Tip BTA, my clown fish took to it after about a week of it's residences. It split about 4 times and I gave the splits to the LFS where we bought it, but kept the original. The anemone was happy and healthy right up until the tank crashed when we lost the AC to the house for over two weeks and could not keep the tank temp down below 83.

The current tank (plant 225 glass) is too new to put a nem in there, but we are looking for which one we will put in the tank and will do so after about 6 months of stability.

I have an island of H. magnifica and S. gigantea anemones. They do get huge, so it's important to have a large tank. They also will move when feeling crowded out, so keeping them on an isolated island so they can't move across the tank is also critical. I sure do love them though and the clowns get easily lost in all the tentacles.

I have way too many nems. Love them all.
Here are a few all snuggled up and just chilling.

don't they grow pretty big?
IME they don’t grow much bigger than A RFA. They also have essentially the same care as RFAs and IME don’t move as much as RFAs can. If I could have a garden of Mini Maxi’s I’d love it however they can come in quite expensive for a proper mini maxi. My only complaint with them would be them being ever so slightly more sticky than other small nems are.

Oh, I completely forgot about my curlique nems! They came in on my gulf live rock. Some people flip out when they find them thinking they are aiptasia, but they have been model citizens, just picking up floating bits of food. I sometimes spot feed them when feeling generous!
