Good Morning!

Good morning. Gonna be another hot one here today!

Good morning! Scorching here today also. We had a huge thunderstorm yesterday that actually set off our fire alarm for a few seconds. Scared the daylights out of me!

Your lightening story reminds me of a time I thought I was going to arrested for bank robbery. One rainy night I had to go to my ATM to get some cash. I get my money and as I start to pull out I see two cop cars with lights on come pulling into my bank. One pulls sideways in front of me and the other behind me. Both jump out of their cars with guns drawn and pointing at me. The cop in front comes closer and saw me in my mom van and immediately lowered his gun. Apparently lightening struck the bank as I was withdrawing money and set off a silent alarm. I was shaking all the way home.

Morning Everyone!
Looks like another hot one here today.
Im going to try to make an appointment with my Neurologist and hopefully she can get me in today or tomorrow. She has been on vacation and today is her first day back. Long story short, I have been a chronic sufferer of Cluster Headaches since 2001. Saw many Drs in California but nobody was able to help me. Was diagnosed with Migraines (they are not), Tension Headaches (they are not), alignment of spinal discs ( not the problem), etc!
I found this Neurologist when we moved here and she knew exactly how to treat them. It’s a problem with the Hypothalamus in the brain that causes them. No cure but they can be managed.
Ive been on some high doses of some pretty hardcore meds and have been in remission for over three years. Well, they are back with a vengeance. Very debilitating and come on within seconds. Some last 10 minutes and some last for hours.
There are come new injectable meds available now, similar to the Epipen that you give to yourself. It’s either that or keep oxygen with a rebreather device on hand. Google “cluster headache” to get the full rundown on these things. @WVNed I know how you feel about lack of sleep. These things always hit after you fall asleep. They are referred to as “alarm clock headaches”.
My daughter and I both suffers from migraines as well as cluster headaches.( I don’t get them anymore though.) We finally found a neurologist that did a procedure on her that actually worked. I don’t remember what it is called but he put her out and went in through her nose and gave her a lidocaine (I think) nerve block. No headaches for several months. She will still get headaches from time to time but it doesn’t last as long. This procedure can be done more than once if needed. And now we found out she is having kidney problems from all the ibuprofen she took from all her headaches. Hope you find some answers and relief.

Sounds like an occipital nerve block. I’ve had 2 in the past . They work but not long lasting, for me anyway. I’m sitting in the Drs waiting room now to see if she can get me in.

Have you tried Botox? I’ve heard it may help some people. Good Luck!

Good almost lunch time ! It looks like there are health problems all around today. I have mostly been confined to the house for the past month due to a torn labrum in my hip. I can walk, but it gets painful before I get too far. (but the kitchen is no problem. ;)). I felt a lot better, so I went to the beach Sunday to get out and yesterday I paid the price. I'm back to where I was last week. I decided that since I have nothing else to do but sit and I've gotten to the end of the internet, I would work on a build thread for the setup I already built. It seems a little pointless to make it now, but I'm doing it anyway. Have a good day everyone!

Good news/Bad news from the Dr.
She suspects that I may have had another TIA. Going back tomorrow for an MRI of my noggin.
She can’t increase the dosage of Verapamil because I’m at the highest dose. I’m back on Prednisone to help stop the headaches and I will be starting Emgality injections later this week or early next week. She doesn’t want me on the pred any longer than needed because I don’t react well to it. Emgality comes in two different doses, much higher dose for Cluster Headache and they are pre measured pens. The higher dose won’t be available till later this week.
She sent me next door to the lab for blood work. Lots of cute young ladies work in the lab and I always joke with them. They think I’m adorable! LOL!

Once again BRS has caused the sky to fall.

Many reefers would be very happy if the price of this Sky fell....

Good afternoon, Reefies....
Productive day ... I finally got an appointment for the cervical epidural. That is a step in the right direction.
I have a reefer coming from Gainesville on Saturday to get the 90. It's a perfect scenario. He gets to upgrade from a 75 with a HOB and I get to help my fellow reefers with the hospital bills. It's good karma for everyone. (and my husband does not have to complain that it is in the garage - bonus)

@WVNed and @Mike from TN ... have you tried melatonin? I have been taking very high does of the stuff with my neck pain. Sometimes 30 mg of melatonin gummies are enough to take the edge off and get a few hours of sleep. Not always buy sometimes.

I had picked up a Fluval 13.5 Flex to set up as a time out tank for my clown that was getting picked on. I hate it. The light is either glaring white or barney purple / blue. I feel like it needs a lava lamp and some weed. I've never done the AIO thing. (Well, I had a JBJ cube before but I hated that it had no socks, just that trey thing and I only used it for Crabzilla) I got the Flex because it was cheap and it had a lid. Time to do some research - anyone have any recommendations? The Flex is going back. No wonder there are so many on OfferUp.

I thought the only 13.5 was an Evo and the Flex was larger with a curved front. I have the Evo 13.5 and the light was terrible. I bought a new light that fit the same hole and ended up also adding an actinic led strip under the lid. I specifically wanted this because of the lid, so I am trying to make it work. My softies and LPS are happy now.

I am up to 6 mg/night. But I go to sleep just fine. I just wake up after 3-4 hours and then I am up.
Sometimes I sleep 3-4 hours in the middle of the day but not often.
This is quite common for people with Parkinson's.
But it has been quite common for me most of my life.
There was a time when I went to college full time and worked 60 hours a week at night when I was in my mid 30s. I had a wife and kids and a house. I slept 4 hours every other day and all I wanted on Sundays.
My theme song then.

Then 15 years of unlimited overtime at the phone company. LOL Bulletproof. Take an Ambien and drink 6 beers and then take a call out and work all night until the next afternoon.
Then the sleep apnea got me and the more I slept the more tired I got. Then CPAP happened and I started going the other way again. Then all this other stuff started too.
Day to day. Keep on keeping on. Louie is great company in the middle of the night.
Did you know sleep deprivation is a valid treatment for depression. Amazing the things you learn as time goes by.
Walking the fine line for years now.

I just found this great underwater live cam. It rotates for a different view every minute or so. I think I am going to leave it on the tv like a screensaver.

Wow, that's beautiful. Hawaii is the only place I ever snorkeled with yellow tangs and so many other beautiful fish. Some of those tangs get HUGE. It was many years ago, but still one of our best trips ever. I'd love to go back!

You are correct. I got them confused.... it is the EVO. The light sucks. That sponge filter with the useless bags of carbon and biomedia is just a proprietary nitrate factory. Waterbox has a cute mini-15 peninsula that has a filter sock and then mixed media chamber. (but no light or lid) IM has a nice 14 gallon peninsula with a lid and a controllable DC pump. They want $233 on the IM website but they are our of stock. It is available for $299 on BRS. Heck no.
There is a cool tank that IM makes called a Concept tank. It is basically two 10 gallon tanks fused together. Independent filtration, so one could be my freshwater betta / planted and the other could be my saltwater clown. Those are small though, so you have to pick between the sock or the media tray thing.
I have about 3 more weeks to decide if I will keep the Fluval or return it. I saved the box. We'll see what inspiration pops up between now and then.

I take Melatonin also (30mg) every night. Like Ned, my problem isn’t falling asleep, it’s the sudden wake up from the Cluster.
Imagine (not to sound graphic), being sound asleep and someone drives a red hot screwdriver into your eye. That’s how Clusters wake you up. Absolutely excruciating pain. Lasts a while then goes away as quickly as it came on. Makes me scared to go back to sleep because I know another one can happen at any time. When I’m in a cycle, Angela sleeps in the living Room. I can hear her crying because she knows what I’m going through. Wouldn’t wish them on my worst enemy.

I'm really sorry for all the migraine/headache sufferers. One of our sons has a terrible time. He's done daith piercing, Botox, acupuncture, and taken every possible medicine known to man. I don't think he's ever had an occipital nerve block...I'll have to ask about that. He's currently on Aimovig self-injections. Everything seems to work for a while. Botox was great....for a while. I feel so bad for him....and for you all, too. He just keeps trying as new products hit the market.
