Gsp question

just bought a Green star Polyp frag, a pretty decent sized one. i put the frag next to my back wall of the tank with hopes it will grow on the wall, will this also grow on sand if given the chance, kinda like grass? i think it would look pretty awesome to see my conchs pushing through "Grass."

It will eventually grow on the sand if it has nowhere else to grow. It prefers hard surfaces to sand.

GSP will eventually fill the entire tank. If that is a goal, then putting the frag rock next to the glass will do. Most people put gsp on a rock by itself in the middle of the sand to control growth. It can be ripped off in sheets when it grows on the sand.

It doesn’t attach to sand the way it does rocks, but will send out extensions that try to reach rocks.

cool, I actually have a huge kenya tree too, so my tank should be filled up with coral in about 2-3 months lol, i just think it would be cool to have it grow on a wall and some sand.

Just be careful. If you do decide to get more corals down the line, it’s a pain to cut them back (for good) and open new real estate.

gotcha, dont plan on doing that, i think my tank will be plenty full and colorful.
