Thanks for the response. In a perfect world that would be great, however, the only true union valves I can find in that size are ball valves. So I just may use a union before and after the gate valve to accomplish the same thing.Yes, and yes. In this case I would use a true union valve so that it can easily be maintained. If it’s a drain I would try to keep the knob/handle as vertical as possible as debris/sludge can potentially build up against the gate. Especially if it’s not fully open.
Yeah, that’s perfect. Actually what I have going. I just said true union without even thinking about it, like they grow on trees! Ha. I remove mine to clean it (well, yeah…once in six years) but you can just unscrew the valve from the body if you leave enough room to pull out the innards. Best to remove the body though, especially if it’s in a sump where you can’t see/access it or ever need to swap it out.Thanks for the response.
