First opinions;

Easy to assemble, but the "C" bracket has 4 small clips that go into the magnet and they break really easy - case in point - I bought two and one was broken. I talked to Roger at Tunze and they rushed a bracket out to me in 3 days. They also have had many reports of the same issue.

The flow of the Nanostream 6045 is rated at 1,189 gal/hour, but compared to a Hagen is rated at 400 gal/hour - I feel that is certainly under powered in flow force output (not flow rate). It's dispersement is wider but far less force than I anticipated.

I am running 2 of these in a 36" long 65 gallon tank and although it is reasonable, I would have gone with the larger model, the nanostream 6055.

The specifications on the Nanostream 6045 are the following:
For aquariums from 26 to 53 gallons.
Flow rate 1,189 gal/hour.
Energy consumption 8 W.
Dimensions Dia 2.7"
Output Dimensions Dia 1.5"
Price $70.00 to $90.00 shop around.

Advantages:
Magnet holders and No suction cups.
Rotation of direction.
Smaller footprint than a Hagen 70 or Seio.
Completely clean and no way to loose fish or small inverts.
Very quite.

Disadvantages:
Flow force is marginal - biggest reason for using powerheads.

in Canada we have the 6025 going for about $75CDN and the 6045 for about $110CDN

i've got both, and I love them....sooo tiny and very powerful - the right amount of flow for what i need....no problems....and the magnet holders are where it's at!

Zach.

Some vendors were selling for $70-$75 on pre-order.... have not seen them on Dr. Fosters and Smith yet. I would assume they will be cheaper than $90. Time will tell, I bought mine on a pre-order for $70 each and $12 shipping, but that deal is gone - I just checked.

i was reading some reviews of the 6045's over on the Tunze forum on RC. seems like a couple people were unhappy with them compared to the 6025's, b/c they thought there wasn't much of a difference b/w their 6025's and 6045's.

supposedly the 6045 has almost twice the flow the 6025's do, but people are saying thats not the case when they have both models in the same tank and are comparing them. i can't comment on this IME b/c i only have the 6025s.

as far as those stupid little clips. yeah, one of my little tabs broke off on both clips. not a big deal though. but last night i was moving one of my pumps and the other 3 tabs broke off. oh well, i just took the magnet and clip out of the tank and glued them together where those tabs would be. i dont really feel like having another clip sent out to me with more cheap tabs that will eventually break off. after super glueing it together, i think its stronger than those little tabs could ever be. so i'm happy with it as is.

i believe they are re-engineering the tabs so they won't be broken so easily.

I broke a couple of the clips on both of my 6025s...Roger sent me 2 new ones also! As for price...I got my 6025s at ChampionLighting for around $60.00 or so.

Nope not at all. The thing with these is that the flow is so dispersed over a large diameter traveling across the tank that it doesn't really blow the sand up. If it were a small diameter of large flow it would wreak havoc. Here is a pic of how they are situated in the upper corners of the tank. They face towards the center and down.

wow.. you have them pointing at the glass (essentially) and no sandstorm? thats great.. just what I need. for some reason Im not getting good flow from my CL.. I think i need to re-do the plumbing. I was thinking about putting one on the side panel and blowing down onto the reef..

I get a little sand move here and there but not a biggie.. I think you can just move it down and point it upwards... I also broke 1 or 2 of the clips and it moves when I play around with the direction of flow.. I'll get it situated though..
