Hello Everybody!

I’m Steve. I am re-entering the world of salt after about 30 years with only my freshwater fishies to keep me from fishlessness. I decided to update myself and my techniques and to dive into a reef using a BioCube 32 with LEDs since it seemed easier to deal with an “all in one”. The cube has a neat appearance, and actually is the biggest tank I could fit in the space I have left. (There are 8 freshwater tanks, an outdoor goldfish pond, and a quarantine for the new reef.) I am looking forward to getting to know you, your ideas, and to learn more about this hobby we’re all excited about. Thanks for having me and sharing your experience with me.

When I was keeping a SW tank in the 70s with an HOB filter, and an UG covered with limestone chips, the best one could hope for was a few fish and maybe a hermit crab or two or a couple of shrimp. If you were very careful never to overfeed, and to do frequent water changes you had better success. The protein skimmer with an airstone was an improvement The 80s brought a “miraculous” advancement with the introduction of the wet-dry filter. Now: a million new ideas!
