I live in California and I am an avid saltwater aquarist. I have one newly set up fish-only tank and a full reef tank. The fish-only tank is a 55g tank with a 30 gallon sump. There is at least 65 pounds of live Carrib-Sea Fiji pink sand and about 60 pounds of BRS Reef Saver dry live rock. I just have one of the cheap Aqueon reef lights on it, but it makes the fish look good!! I do have a nice old skimmer on it but I couldn't name it! By now id say this tank is no more then 4 weeks old. I used a full bottle of the ATM bacteria in a bottle which really sped up the cycle. Ammonia went to zero about 5 days after I added the chemical. Nitrite was never traceable, and now I'm starting to show slight Nitrate. This tank should be getting a hardy fish or two within the next week. Now for tank number two. The reef tank is a 47 gallon, rimless, three side starfire tank. It has an EShoppes 100 sump. I have a Tunze 3155 Auto-Top off. I am running a 350 Kessil w/ the spectral controller. It has about 55 pounds of purple dry live rock, and probably close to 50 pounds of Fiji Pink sand, also. This tank is a bout one year and a month old, and never have had a major problem!
