Hi there! Any other reefing vermonters around?
I have a 46 gallon bowfront with a 20 gallon sump that's been running for close to two years now.
I have a few fish, a 2 green btas and 4 plating montipora (3 frags and 1 colony the other pieces broke off of)
Wondering what the best places are for fish/corals around here?
Also, what is a good showpiece fish for a tank like this?
Finally, my montipora is supposed to be a red one but it is more a tan color.
I've had it for about 6 months and it's grown a pretty well, but i'm wondering if the color and growth could improve.
Best places to rent a par meter around here?
Here's a picture of my montipora:

Now it's less red and more brown but still quite pale.
Any thoughts?

Welcome to Reef2Reef!!

I have never owned a bow front tank but they look pretty cool. I think you may want to be careful with dwarf angels as some can nip corals. I have had really good luck with a flame angel for going on 4 years now though so it depends on the fish.

Welcome to R2R! VT here. I'd suggest a dwarf angelfish if you are prepared to omit LPS, zoas, and clams from your selection. The tang might work, but it will most likely outgrow your tank. Perhaps a small species like the kole or tomini could be housed for a few years, but even they would eventually need to be re-homed. You could also go with a flasher wrasse. Two males of different species would result in the best color.

Welcome, glad you are here! I voted pygmy angel but at first my gut said wrasse . But when you let us know what coral you had I changed to the angel. But you my want to think about what corals you want to add in the future as pygmy angels are considered semi reef safe. Good luck!

Thanks! Does getting a pygmy angel mean that it would be risky to add lps and/or soft corals?
