Only thing I can think of is eaither my wrasse was throwing it around or my phosphate spike 5 months ago. I corrected the phosphate spike over a week and nothing was effected. Recently my purple Kenya tree started splitting and one of the “branches” attached to the back of it but it seems happy still. It feeds, it extends I’m just concerned it’ll randomly die.No that is not normal.
It is upset and bailing.
Since this is an older tank...
Any changes in the past year to 6 months you can think of?
Parameters?
Icp?
Swings?
Rusty screws anywhere?
Only a slight phosphate swing 5 months ago but it didn’t show skeleton until 1.5-2 months ago. I’ve noticed some flatworms but I siphon them out and got a watermelon wrasse and an arrow crap to combat it. I stay away from chemicals especially for flatworms because of the toxins. It had some brown spots about 3 weeks ago and I dipped it again and the went away. What are the signs for the disease? It’s bail out. Something is upsetting it .
Anything from parameter swings . Pests , something in the tank picking at it .
too high of flow ,
there used to be a disease common for elegance corals . And think it was similar to bjd .
one more thing .
Do you feed it ?
They don’t require food but they will
Benefit from feeding
Corals suck in this regard....I bet it had to do with the P04 spike and correction.Only thing I can think of is eaither my wrasse was throwing it around or my phosphate spike 5 months ago. So basically it’s going to die no matter what?It isn't normal for a coral to recede from its skeleton but it is normal for a elegance coral in captivity to recede from its skeleton. I've spent half my life trying to keep one of these and never had one survive and grow.
Elegance Coral Syndrome Diagnose and Treatment with Fresh Water Dip
Elegance Coral, Catalaphyllia jardinei, is a LPS that is very beautiful easy and is one of my favorite LPS. Since early 2000, it was well known by reefers that Elegance coral is easy to care for, unless it contracted Elegance Coral Syndrome (ECS), a universally fatal disease with no known cure...www.reef2reef.com
The small little white ones. I’m not familiar with flatworms because I’ve never had them. It’s a first. Bristle worms are CRAZY in my hospital tank. The flatworms must have hitchhiked on a frag.Oh flatworms....what kind?
The big grey/brown EEFW?
Coral RXThat's just their experience. It will not automatically die.
Many many people keep them now and also cut them in half to frag them.
What dip are you using on it?
Reef primer and chemicleanI wouldn't dip it in that anymore unless you see worms on or in it.
Do you have any cipro?
Or chemiclean?
lugols Iodine?
Amino acids?
I would love to see a thread specific to elegance corals that have survived in captivity for more than a year with tips and tricks for keeping them going along with pictures. That's just their experience. It will not automatically die.

I feel bad for your experience but trying to scare a member into thinking a specific coral will die is silly.Search R2R for "Elegance Coral" this is a heartbreaking coral to try and keep.
