Some of your frags did look bleached. No i have not tested par. But its a shallow tank with 2 radeons and t5 hybrid. If anything ill bake stuff.

Par smar... lolAside from low phosphate the elemight be my only low level concern. Everything looks pretty good so we defer to flow and lights now. Do you have par numbers?
Hey Perry . Welll actually the rock was dry not love or seeded. I actually started feeding reef roids to increase nutrients. As far feeding the fish, i feed very heavy Rods and pellets. Yea Randy mentioned to me the possibility for aluminum leaking from media, but he also said it was very low to cause any issues. I will redo my icp month since im removing media this weekend
Temp? Dang my temp is solid stable. Also as far as bad salt, my ph has been rather low at 7.9 hence why i starte to use kalk at night. Its pretty solid now at 8.1Numbers seem ok . Dont think it a nutrient issue but rather environmental within tank or atmospheric. Stressors such as increased temperature either modify the structure of the coral microbial symbiotic community or trigger the production of virulence factors. Temperature stress can increase chances of coral disease development in several ways by creating stress in the coral zooxanthellae and decreasing its resistance to infection, increasing growth and virulence of opportunistic coral pathogens, and decreasing the production of antimicrobials by symbiotic bacteria in the coral mucus, thereby facilitating the growth of opportunistic and potentially pathogenic bacteria.
Some possible triggers of infection are:
- Alkalinity spike
- Temperature spike
- Salinity spike
- Low dissolved oxygen
- Poor water quality related with phosphate levels up to 5 ppm
- Change in water flow
- Additions of sand
- Changes in brand of salt
- Bad test kits giving faulty results
- Levels of minor elements such as Iodine, Potassium, Strontium
- Light intensity
- - Changes in water flow
- Addition of new corals
- - Pesticides
- Airborne Contaminants or sprays
Right now EODOk,
For shi*s and giggles, how often are you brushing the glass? If everyday or every other day, then good. This is and has always been my barometer for P04. I get nervous when my glass goes more than a few days without needed a good cleaning, just a personal opinion.
This is interesting because it's like every 2 to 3 days for me and scrape once weekly so it's nice to know this is a nutrient indicator.Ok,

I'm just a little lazy sometimesI brush daily, I would love to go every few days, but that's my reality, lol. To me, that tells me my corals definitely have a crack at nutrients, if the glass does, obviously they do too. In fact, I believe that brushing glass has massive benefits, as pods lay eggs. To me, that's a natural food source

yea or lacking foor. I have Rads so low for this reason and t5 only to half hour a day. Some of your frags did look bleached.
ty right now, no other choice but to raise a bit more and maintain these sucker a bit higher than i likeOverall it sounds like you are really on top of things. I think Perry brings up valid point of raising nutrients level. I maintain around 13 nitrates and .14 phosphate tested today and SPS are thriving. I think also more tank maturity will be beneficial to you. Don't waste money on new frags get a few cheap easy stylos and wait till the one year mark with total stability.

Yeap. I really do miss having real love rockIn a mature system, ULNS fine. It takes time, I use zeolites, siporax, carbon source, bacteria source, but still have elevated nutrients, despite rocks being wet for 3+ years. Corals fine, but always looking to press for better coloring. In a new system, this balance takes time, like more than most are willing to admit. Best to run dirty, especially if not established with "real live rock "

Could be needs more calcium. SPS take up a bunch of my calcium along with my coraline algae. Could be too much light intensity or not enough water movement. Anything you've done differently from before to when you bought the sps corals?Afternoon guys. Im in a huge letdown at the moment seeing as i just cant seem to keep sps alive. All acros i place in the tank seem to STN/RTN within a couple of days . Im have tried almost everything and just cant get my head on this so any help or suggestions will help tremendously. I have been having issues keep po4 up to detectable levels, so my guess is this. However any other theories will help. On a side note, coraline seems to ge thriving so in puzzled to why SPS wont survive.

Yea my last box was from Adam at BC. Beautiful frags. They are the ones that are doing the best. They still got pe but lost color.Source, source, source. Getting rock from an existing system, rubble, anything live helps. Acquiring well know sourced healthy corals helps too. My reboot started with a Battlebox from Battlecorals. From there, I only sourced larger, chunkier pieces. This helps more than many know. Fast forward, my corals are colored and growing good.
