Your stainless steel will work for now but I've still had them rust up on me.

+1 sort of. Many more than 2 grades of stainless steel. You have your 300 series, commonly 304, 316, then you have your 400 series 416, 440 common. And others 316 is considered marine grade do to increased chloride resistance.There are two common grades of SS. 304 and 316. 304 is not chloride safe. 316 is mildly chloride safe. So it's not a matter of fake vs real. It's a matter of knowing what you're buying. 304 is the most common type.
