I’ve had a couple of ugly green/brown / grayish ricordia in my SPS reef for years.. over the last 6 months they suddenly multiplied to hundreds of little killers. They have multiplied all over and are now getting up inside large Stylos and other SPS and killing them from the inside. Has anyone had any experience with killing them off? Breaking down the 265 gal reef is not an option.. ugh!!

It may just be me but those look more like majano anemones than ricordea
That's what I felt, but there is a pic of some bigger ones that look a bit mushroomy.
That sucks. The good news is I have a Raccoon butterfly that's been in QT that needs a good home that probably would take care of the problem...

You guys are right.. I did some web surfing and utube looking and majanos is what I’ve got.. and masses of them in the back of the tank...I see Majano wands, some types of file fish, Asfur angels etc.. I have no soft corals in my tank.. any suggestions for my mass infestation? @Eagle_Steve

I’d find a fish that would eat them (if there is one) with that many. Hopefully others have suggestions as to the type of fish they’ve had success with

That many and nem cannon will only work for some. Smaller 1/2" pvc or pex would work for the pipe with a small sponge.

Another trick is to just cover them with a sponge. Thin never used dish sponges work great. Place them over the nems a section at a time and the majano usually crawl on the sponge. Remove sponge from tank, peel majano off, trash them, rinse sponge in super hot water, wring it out, let it dry and do it again. 6 pack of sponges is best for this, as once you remove one, just replace and let other dry.

Outside of that, a copperband is a possdibility. I have seen tanks have to be broken down though with infestations that high. I would try the sponges first and just work it a section at a time to remove as many as possible that way. Then do kalk paste or lemon juice injections on others.

Don't nuke too many at one time though. You don't want to upset the balance of your tank with excessive death.
