My clownfish has a small bump on his gill plate, was not there a yesterday morning it appeared last night. What could it be? I have prazi on the ready if needed.

One single dot and that's it. Thought either a fluke or lymphocytis

Might be lymphocystis. How long have you had the clown? Any tank or tankmate changes recently?

Like 5 days now, never had a thing on him till today

Came from a friend with other clowns

I'm betting lymphocystis. It will clear up in a few days once it settles down

I didn't think it was flukes because my other clown, who has been is there for a while now has never shown signs of anything. Also the one with the bump isn't showing the normal fluke signs (ie heavy breathing, scratching, hiding

I recently had a yellow tang get lymphocystis after six months. Literally, within 48 hours, it was gone. The lympho will have a cauliflower-like appearance to it.

Like how big will the growth be because this is barely noticeable unless I'm looking for it

It can be small (<1mm in diameter) to larger (~3mm). If it's just one bump, it's probably lymphocystis.

Yes it's only one bump and it's around 1-3 mm I would estimate

Just give it a couple of days. Feed nutritious food and try too minimize stress.

If he was healthy before in your friend's tank, he's probably just stressed from the move.

I only have pellets and Frozen mysis

He went through his first water change yesterday and I cleaned the filter so a lot of sand was kicked up as well which I assume would be very stressful

Soak some brine and mysis shrimp in selcon, zoecon, or vita Chem. You can also feed squid, chopped shrimp, or chopped clam.
