I wish I could remember back when I worked at lfs's there were some many ways people would pronounce things that would get under my skin. I mean I was pronouncing everything wrong too but my way sounded cooler.

wait....I thought it was Pee Co?I wanna try my hand at a pico reef soon. Waiting for a day to patiently put together the Tenecor pie-ko that dropped a few weeks ago.
I said pick-oh for the longest
I thought it was pee-kah (like Pokemon's "Pikachu") because picometer is pronounced with pee-kah.wait....I thought it was Pee Co?
Ha. totally! how's this for a nerdy name drop. Back maybe 2004, the first time I heard this was on the phone with none other than Eric Borneman! I tried to say it that way for a while and i just couldn't get the hang of it.Everytime I hear it that way, it makes me question the persons snobbishness.

Years and years ago I actually called Tunze to figure out the pronunciation. They answered the phone with TUNES.
Oh yea chillids. That one hit my brain like a car crash. And then theres the discus mispronounciation that would probably get me banned.Ar my LFS - Cichlids were - Chill-ids. guorami = Gomora and plecostumus were coc-os-tamus

Goniopora: is it goni-o-pora or goni-opera?
Echinata: ekinata or echinata? I say the former (like echidna), but I always hear the latter.
like the onion? One "expert" at a popular reef store says Vi-dal-ia instead of Val-ida.
I personally call Chaeto Cheeto, on purpose just for fun. Of course you are correct on the Sicce thing....I hear that mispronounced all the time.If this Hobby isn't confusing enough, there are an abundance of titles and names that are often confusing as to how they are pronounced. Some are:
Sicce - Sea-chay - we often hear Sice
Tunze - Tune - zee - we often hear Tons
Chaeto - Kato - we often hear cheeto
Noopsyche - Noop-sh= We here many variations such as Noop-sike
What are some you have seen or mis-pronounced (dont be bashful) ?
