I read the 1st page only. I think you need more blue light. Definitely not enough...

Hey Shane , quick question I had gotten the Red Sea pro test kit for nitrate, I followed the directions to a t and it shows my nitrates are undetectable, the test vial is just as clear as the saltwater control lol. The video on the computer has different reagents because the video was old. Is there anything with the test kit that the directions may not explain? It’s hard to believe a biocube with no skimmer can have not a trace of nitrates but this may be what is hindering my PE on acros other then my tenuis. Sorry for the lengthy question.

Do you notice any difference with keeping alk levels at certain ranges affect the tenuis? Like do you notice anything if alk stays at 7-8 or 9-10?
we mostly like our alk at 8.7-9.3 we think the shows the best PE.. too low is not good and too high is not good. I think indo water is closest to 9 so that is our target. we have a found that has tested the waters in indo

this is a great question actually.. you you to test for high range. you need to flip the card around and dilute the water sample so only 2ml of tank water and the rest rodi water.

if you flip the card around do you see what i mean?

So to do low range for the test you do 2 ml of tank water added to 14 ml of rodi to make the solution total 16? The directions had said to use 16 ml of tank water for both vials.

I think for HIGH RANGE you use 1ml tank to 15ml of RODI. I don't have it in front of me but that is what I recall.

For LOW range you are correct.

Ahh so that’s why when I use 16 ml of tank water and add all the reagents it seems that the powder doesn’t want to dissolve and stays completely clear?

If your level was undetectable at the HIGH Range (16 ml of sample), it will surely be the same if you dilute the sample 1:15.

Yes it is ok if you use 1 table spoon per gallon but every 3 days is overkill do it every 8 days ...the idea is to beat the egg cycle so you need do do it every week for 8 weeks basically

Tried the other way too and deff not a lick of nitrates, it just worried me that there was always still a little residual dust looking reagent on the bottom reguardless of how vigorously I shook it.
