If I could find one like him, would agree! My concern is that I’ve heard of hobbyist regret their purchase as they many times revert back to a normal looking tang…ouch.

That is what I heard happened to one that Andrew @ Polo Reef had a while back.

I love my naso tang! Has always been a favorite, but I have to agree that the Achilles has to be the holy grail! That is one seriously beautiful fish!

Love my Achilles. If you're struggling to keep them due to ich sensitivity, look into the H202 dosing method from Humblefish. Helped mine recover from a pretty bad outbreak and build up his immune response. I no longer have to dose, but keep a bottle on standby if I see any spots on him.

Actually Bobby (Humblefish) will tell you that H2O2 has yet to e proven to have an impact on ich. Anecdotally perhaps but not yet proven. H2O2 certainly has correlation to curing velvet and even Uronema so it would seem to make sense to assist with ich but not so….at least not yet proven. Copper power seems to be the best remedy for ich and its relatively less harmful then other copper’s.

Do you have any experience trying it? It's worked for me and many others and the causal hypothesis for how it helps seems uncontested. Why do you say it's not proven?

I'm not quite sure what you're actually suggesting since copper powder would not be an effective solution for an Achilles in a reef tank. Pulling it to treat every time it got an ich flare up is untenable.

My Friend's Blonde Naso. Seen this tang, I got mine, tiny 2 inch Blonde Naso. Last two pictures is mine growing up.

My Achilles. Currently resides in my 600 gallon reef and uses every bit of swimming space. Very active fish. I couldn't imagine one in a smaller system but it happens.

This is my dream fish that I may not ever have. Unless finally buy a house and build my dream tank 🙂

Jessica on HF site has done all the experimentation so will leave it to her to further explain why it is unproven. I’m just following the experts, in this case Jessica and Bobby who suggest H2O2 is good for allot of things but not ich….yet. As I already mentioned and you seem to agree, it makes some sense that if it works for other tough parasites, it should work with ich. However many failures and some successes according to Jessica.
As far as Copper Power, I have had great success picking a healthy specimen, getting them to eat, then followed by 30 day QT treatment along with a couple of doses of prazi. Then released into my 700g FOWLR not reef. Did treat FOWLR tank directly before adding Achilles almost 3 years ago. All good.

Black, Dussumieri and Fowleri are 3 tangs that are very hard to come by, therefore they'd be my HG tangs.
Black tangs are easy to come by for me - I’ve found them to be ugly though.

Tangs are “boring” since I’ve always had them. I like angels more for their coloration & personality.

Angels are definitely my favs as well. My conspicuous angel as well as personifer, scribble and emperor are my favs….that I own anyway….
