I’m not really sure why it’s dropped so low, it’s been typically sitting around 7.8 but it seems to have a taken a dive recently. I’m a little new to this so any help would be much appreciated!

First thought, probably needs recalibration. Unless you have a ton of Co2 in your house.
We did have a small house party tonight, maybe that’s what threw things off then. also do you think it would have come out of calibration over night? It seemed like it was working well for the last few days.

That will do it, the amount of co2 would have tanked your ph with the amount of people in the house. You can open a window if possible to help raise your ph back up

Okay I’ll give that a shot, if not are ph buffers something worth trying?

You should see an increase with fresh air coming into the house to lower your co2 levels. I dont like adding buffers, I feel you can easily create more issues with a larger swing that way. Your tank will normalize after everyone leaves so worst case leave it alone and monitor. But I think your tank will enjoy some fresh air and you will see the ph starting to rise again 🙂

A buffer is just an alkalinity supplement. It’s never a good way to deal with low pH unless alk is also very low.

I’d be a bit surprised if pH 7.4 is accurate, even with guests. It would require the indoor CO2 to be very high.

If it does not come back to normal, there are numerous ways to deal with low pH and/or pH measurement issues.

I recently added a co2 scrubber to my skimmer intake and am very happy with my pH results. Got everything for like 40 bucks.

Can you dm me the parts list / instructions?

Hey if you could send me that as well, I’d be interested. It sounds alot cheaper than what I’ve seen online.

Those are the Amazon links to what you’ll need. You fill the filter canister with the soda lime and install into the media canister. I left the input empty, installed the hose barb on the output. I then connected a vinyl hose I had from the output to the intake of my skimmer. The air goes into the canister, out the hose and then gets used by the skimmer. Does that make sense?
