Good morning yall, does anyone have an update on the latest estimated release date for the maven? Everything I found says Nov of 2024. Went back to page 14 of this thread but didn’t see anything about it. Learned a lot more about WiFi though…hahaha

I got lucky that my wife is just as into the tank as I am. I now have 2 tanks with plans for a 300 gallon in a year or two in the wall under my stairs in the living room. She is totally on board. She doesn’t help with the care of course but like going to the fish store and had named all our fish. She even went as far as to create a back story for all the inhabitants. I have since renamed the tanks “Mixed Reef High” and “School for fish that are mean and like to eat coral”. .

@FishTacos2 They have had the Maven at those booths before so that would not be much of a surprise to have it there.

There will always be someone displeased with something. Smart move from business stand point and from hopefully producing solid results stand point.
Also it is cool they are using the ABC reagents and not manufacturing themselves

If the prices aren't bad, and availability is good, it's not a problem for me.
I buy expensive Hanna reagents for those testers. That seems accepted.
My issue is more that this is going to be an expensive product already, with likely limited uptake to start. And at least in Canada I'm sure the reagents will be hard to find.
Right now the Alk reagent for the IV Pro + X10 is impossible to find in Canada and I have to make my own. Which is fortunately possible.
On top of that, if this is as flakey as the X10 + IV Pro was to set up, I'm going to burn a ton of reagent getting it calibrated and working reliably.

The traceable reagent is smart from a customer support perspective tho. If for some reason they find out a batch/lot of reagents isn’t performing right, they can find out who and notify users of issues directly. Also notify users if the reagent they are installing might be close or expired, etc. they also mentioned data collecting linked to that barcode as well (with user permission) that could help with debugging or improvements.
Reef factory also uses barcodes with their reagent as well, so the concept isn’t new but I understand the debate over it

It is, but I'm a bit suspicious of that justification.
Do they expect to have such a substantial problem with reagents that it justifies building and maintaining a system that requires the customer register every bottle before using it?
Like, they could have the traceability with bar codes without having to scan every bottle before use and restrict the ability for the system to run.
IMO it's profit-motivated with the benefit of them having to deal with less support due to people using unsupported reagents.
Which is fine, if the prices are still reasonable and the availability is good. We'll have to see if that's the case.
I'm sure their experience with people making reagents for the X10 hasn't been seamless.

Believe it or not. I don't care either way. Just don't wait on ABC to sell their own cheaper. It won't be happening. Pretty sure it was very obvious anyways when I posted the email from the owner of ABC when Maven was first announced with him saying he would NOT be releasing his own for the Maven. Coralvue is also a distributor for him. It is a pretty good relationship move.

You are about to be really shocked. Lots of companies hire this stuff out. ABC is a reagent manufacturer/blender whatever you want to call them. Coralvue is not. Either setup a lab/manufacturing or use one already made. Pretty easy decision to me. Coralvue is also ABCs distributor.
