I caught the sailfin tang! He’s looking pretty rough. Just added him into the copper power at 2 PPM and I also added nitrofurazone. Hopefully he makes it. On a side note my purple tang which I believe started the outbreak is looking a lot better. I’ve been feeding heavy and he’s been eating like a cow. I don’t think I’m going to remove and treat him just yet. I hardly even see anything on him. My convict tang looks completely unaffected. Clowns look great, the Midas blenny was still showing some strange behaviors today. He was flashing and breathing at the surface and chasing his tail….. if I can catch him I’ll add him into the quarantine tank. He sleeps under a rock at night so near impossible at the moment. Wish me luck

So 15g quarantine is currently being setup I’ve decided I’m going to attempt to catch the purple and sailfin tangs tonight. They seem to be the only ones expressing ich. My Midas blenny is acting strange biting his tail so if I can catch him I’ll throw him in as well. I bought copper safe, ammonia warning sticker and an api test kit. Unfortunately my LFS doesn’t carry copper power ughhh I also bought nitrofurazone but it won’t be here till Friday…. I realize I should have had these things in hand. Mistake after mistake lol I’m definitely not going to be able to catch all the other fish to go without fish for 11 weeks. So I will treat these fish and once they are ich free for at least 2 weeks I’ll add them back to my tank and pray the UV keeps the ich down low enough that the fishes immune system and counter it.
It really would be best to remove all fish by any means necessary as soon as possible, treat with copper for 30 days, and keep the tank fallow for 60 days. Be sure to stay on top of water quality in the hospital tank during this period as it is a new setup. Use old filter media for cycling. Avoid using sand and live rock.

As said, you’ll really need to treat all exposed fish. One thing about the Midas - those symptoms may indicate flukes, so you could have a double infection going on here (ugh).

Right that’s originally what I thought was going on so I treated with prazipro in the reef tank. 2 treatments 8 days apart. Do you think I should move him to the qt or just do another prazipro treatment in the reef? He’s not showing any white spots at the moment. I don’t think I could house all the fish in such a small qt tank it’s only 15g that’s why I’m not going the route of removing all the fish

No improvement after the two prazipro treatments? If not, then I'd rule out flukes. Now, two treatments may not be enough to fully cure flukes, but if you don't see any temporary improvement, then the issue isn't fluke-related.

What size tank? Grab every kind of clean bucket and clean barrel you can and a siphon hose and drain those tanks down to 6" of water or less. "Low Tide method"-- you will easily catch those fish when they have no where to go; especially if you use items like sheets of plastic of a bunch of nets to progressively cut off all escape routes to/through the rocks. Then refill your tank.

the copper absolutely worked…. I’m following the 80/20 method from reef to reef. So 100% water change every 3 days. I’m feeding well and the sailfin is eating good so I guess that means it’s tolerating the copper and nitrofurazone. The fish has no ich that I can see which is crazy because it was covered pretty badly. The purple tang and the other fish seem to be doing well I’m not seeing ich in the tank I have been feeding heavy to get them fat and healthy! Also I’ve been running a powerful UV. Hopefully this method of ich management will help.

I did lose my flame angle fish which is weird he didn’t have any signs of illness at all. And I never found his body he just disappeared…. I checked all around the tank to see if he jumped but nothing at all.
