EDIT: after seeing the pricing and shipping cost on ebay ... this might be a fairly expensive route.:downcast-face-with-sweat:

I have not tried myself but another option that other reefers have done is ordering custom from Precision Converting. Their ebay store lists 80 micron options.

From what I can gather, you just email them [email protected] (Steve) and request custom cut (example) '10 rolls, 6" x 100 yds. 80 micron, 2" ID core, rayon/polyester roll'. It still cost more than aliexpress but they are in USA. Also their ebay listings mention '2" inner diameter core (1" core adapter plugs and 3" ID cores also available)'

I just ordered 3 of these and they seem to be the right size. Have not tried them out yet since my first roll is not used up yet. https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256...il_item.4.30b0f19czVMUyt&gatewayAdapt=glo2usa
How did these rolls from aliexpress work out. I beached and washed all 5 of my used roller fleece in a spare washing machine and reused them. I ordered an SK5000 clarisea fleece roll. It should be 6 inch wide but much longer at 137ft vs the 82ft of fijicube rolls. Also 200 micron vs 75 or 20 micron spec

They work even better than ones for Fiji. I just changed my first roll two days ago and I was looking at my tank want was thinking. "Dam that's the clearest I have seen it in a long time" so much so I went looking to make sure my diamond goby was not dead

Haha that's funny. By the way how long does one of those substitute roll last?

Just put my first one in two days ago, but I'm definitely curious my self. But even if they last half as long which its looking to last longer than the defaults it would still be worth using considering the price is less than half of what it is from anywhere else

Quick update on the experiment with using the SK5000 Clarisea roll. It lasted 22 days and AFAIK the fleece is 20micron. Guess it’s back to washing and reusing old fleece rolls

Some pictures showing the problem with the replacement pipe
I know this is an older post, but I had an issue with their plumbing shere even a 1mm out of spec pipe caused an issue and resorted to soft plumbing the drains. Was a pain. But I think the issue if the soft silicone gaskets they use. they Allow too much flex

I found out that there’s some small variation in dimensions of the replacement pipes. It’s something that can be easily taken care of if the sump was empty and can be moved around a bit until everything is in place with as little flex or stress on the plumbing. Also using some plumber’s silicone grease will prevent water leaks at the gaskets. Make sure to use the grease that is NSF stated to be safe for drinking water. Hope this helps. Unfortunately in my case my sump was filled with water and equipment and I was too lazy to empty it. In the end I resealed the original leaking pipe and wrapped it with self sealing silicone tape.

just an updated pic of the tank.
1753137094344.jpeg

Somehow I got montipora eating nudibranch. All months that I had for 2years gone in a space of 2 weeks. Dipping with coral RX didn’t really work unless I used a very high concentration ie more than 4x recommended dosage, then do I see those pest coming out from the montiporas pore. But the treatment is too rough on the corals.

Added AWC system using a DOS. Documenting the setup and the codes used to do the following:
(1) setup the AWC so that it first removes 4694ml of water from the sump and then add NSW
(2) Also assigned feed mode C to manually remove 500ml of tank/sump water and feed mode D to manually add 500ml of NSW
(3) Assigned physical switches on a control box to initiate a manual removal of 500ml and a separate switch to add 500ml of NSW. Control box is made by Fixreef. https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/not-your-typical-apex-toggle-switch-box.971444/

The AWC can be easily setup without any programming. Since I prefer to have the dosing heads in DOS running in the same direction, I plugged in the DOS unit and simply set one of the DOS head to pull out 4964ml between midnight and 2am. And set the remaining DOS head to add back NSW between 2.01am and 4.01am

@nickng How is the ARF-20 working out? I just got my INT75 setup and was thinking of doing the same thing with a similar mod. Has it been reliable and less work than filter socks?

@gfhughes It’s working very well for me. I get about 1.5 months to about 2 months with a single roll. And roll change is very easy. Just use 3M blue painters tape to butt join one roll to the other to pull it thru the filter, works better than stapling.
Btw put the float switch higher up if you want the roll to last longer.

And do get the optional silencer plates that comes with the Fijicube ARF20, it absolutely stopped all the splashing sounds as the water flows into the filter

Thanks! Where do you get you refill rolls (I see some are 20 micron and some are larger, but not sure where to get the right ones.)

Actually any 6inch wide roll will work. That’s why I really like this roller. You can get the replacement rolls from BRS or from Fiji Cube or you can get the ones for ClariSea SK5000 or the BubbleMagus medium 6 inch ones. Even though the diameter of the rolls may be a bit bigger, it’s easy to make an adapter and suspend the roll higher up. Alternatively I just leave the large roll just sitting in the stand next to the sump and it will pull thru the roller filter without any problem.

Also you can bleach and wash the fleece and reuse 1 to 2 times before throwing away. One big advantage of this roller filter is that it is easy to custom make acrylic pieces to make the entire roller filter wider. I’ve contemplated making it wider to fit the reef mat 1200 filter rolls.
