So I was moving my tanks this weekend and all went well except my cleaner shrimps died through the hot weather in nyc. My chalices didn't look too well either so I decided to give it some light to check it out in the frag tank. I placed my powerbrites on the top of the tank and all of a sudden it slid off into the tank water. Good thing nothing bad happen. I dried it up and plugged it in and worked so unplugged it and turned on my T5s instead waiting for the powerbrite leds to dry.

At night, I swapped the LED on and noticed one of the modules dont turn on no more. I killed my LED module, I'm an idiot.

When I link them together I do see a blue tint so I know the LEDs work but it doesnt turn back on, would dropping it in water for a second cause that much harm? I dropped two modules, one works fine but the other is now faulty.

salt water is very corrosive to electrical componetes and a great conductor so it can short....if there is any way to take it apart and rinse it with with some di water , and then let it dry out it might fire back up....no reason to beat your self up man im sure we have all done something similiar lol.... my sump got the best of my iphone one time when i was snapping some skimmer shots.....lol

Troy, would cleaning it with alcohol after the RODI help at all?

It might help it dry out.... I wouldn't be plugging it back in thou any time soon... Get the salt out if there first with some di water and try drying it with a blow dryer.... There's a good chance it will fire up if nothing fried from already trying it.... Dryed up salt can make the current jump from one place to another causing a short.... There might even be a fuse in there that might have blown....

after initially giving up on the powerbrite, today i tried to plug it in again. I get a tint of blue LEDs. I took the unit apart and was able to get the full blue spectrum when i held the wires tight with my tong but began to see sparks. Im playing with fire - anyone help me fix this.

it could be anything really... it's low voltage so thats a plus... you won't kill yourself........
i would maybe look at the solder joint's on the wires you were playing with and maybe re solder them.... dropping the fixture in water wouldn't cause a break in the wire so i would look at the joints....
it's really gonna be hard for anyone over the pc to help you i would look for a electrical shop or someone exp. to play with it...
