Is this bleaching or from shadowing?

My montipora looks fine under blue light but I decided to flash my light in the tank and I noticed the underside of the coral that is away from the light has turned pure white. Is this bleaching, dying or normal? How can I fix this?

20g breeder tank. Monti is center of light middle height and high flow fed 2x a week reef roids and amino

I'm assuming possibly too much light? Or not enough flow. The damage is on the half pointed away from the powerhead

I dont see nudis. It's been here for 4 months no coral goes in the tank without a 30 min dip.

Just for the record what do you dip your corals in? If you are doing a 30 minute dip and it made it through I am curious the brand.

Seachem reef dip. I do 15 to 30 mins on all my corals. About 30 frags and never had any stressed corals.

All adult nudis are dead for sure. Eggs are a different story. I scrubbed the dead spots with a tough toothbrush in hopes to get them off. How often should I do dips...

Bingo..... yeah man I know your frustration I dip scrub and check everything with seachem dip never seen a nudi before or after the dip I lost 3 monti frags I kept putting it off as bad lighting got frustrated and asked a LFS owner fornhelp and he asked to to check under the monti for them I eventually lost everything But a small frag I’m nursing back now

I was advised to frag any dead spots off coral and use Bayer complete insecticide instead of iodine based dips
10-15 ml per cup literally looks like milk soak for 15 minutes tops scrub with soft toothbrush and rinse well in fresh saltwater before placing back in tank and repeat every 3 days

No Montipora eating Nudibranchs are to my knowledge only Montipora pests your other coral should be fine

Oh and blast the hell outa the frag during dips with a turkey baster I even had to remove one with tweezers for what it’s worth I left 3 adults in the Bayer dip afterwards they still wiggled the next day when I dumped it I’m convinced they are immortal

I would scrub the dead/dying areas every day for a week then smother superglue over the dead/dying areas you scrubbed.

It will regrow over the dead spots.
