Hey Friends,

So my torch has a head that's been closed for about a week and a half now. Originally I thought it was splitting, but now I see skeleton. So what do y'all think? Is it a split or is it dying?!

This guy's been in this spot since day one (6 months ago).

Parameters are in check, besides nitrates which are high. But they've been this high before without I'll effect. All other corals in the tanks seem happy and healthy

Tissue is receding so it looks unhappy for sure and may soon be dead. New heads usually come from the base of the original head and do not split like an anemone would. It is still alive and can come back if you have good water quality. Good luck.
