My tree leathers are gone. Not sure why. :*( I have 2 toads trying to grow. It's not looking hopeful.A variety of soft corals specifically leathers. Seems like LPS, Zoas, mushrooms, and sticks are the main players these days.
It's not always the crab or worms. Sometimes we have a nasty bacteria that zooms in and eats poor fish up in hours. Jay was talking about uronema in one post. How the director told him to put a dead fish in the water and watch what happens to it. It was very interesting to read.A classic case of a mysterious disappearing fish with the occasional lost snail. It's crazy how quickly a CUC can take care of a fish. :upside-down-face:
Wow, that's the first time I've heard of this! It's not always the crab or worms. Sometimes we have a nasty bacteria that zooms in and eats poor fish up in hours. Another interesting thing of the past, or still present are dead zones/spots. These areas will kill/wipe out anything placed in them. I wonder why we never talk about it anymore? Is it a myth? Or have wave makers really knocked those areas out of the tanks?
I am just curious. Back when I got serious into coral keeping. Dead spots were spoken a lot about and randomizing water flow to to prevent them. But, I am sure there are still places rocks block water flow making a dead zone. I always wondered, if a fish randomly sleeps in dead zone. I wonder if they get eaten there? Dead zones in the ocean do exist.Wow, that's the first time I've heard of this!
Something to think about: although I don't know much about it, from what you're describing, it makes sense! Especially when seemingly healthy/active fish vanish. And I mean truly vanish, and aren't later found in the back of the tank or on the ground. Either way, you have officially given me the heebie-jeebies.I always wondered, if a fish randomly sleeps in dead zone. I wonder if they get eaten there? Dead zones in the ocean do exist.
crazy how fast o can spend my own money
I was hoping someone else would strike up a thread. As I wonder if the wave makers kind of ended it all for us.my six pack. But i’m 47 now so that’s expected.
I’m intrigued by this talk of dead zones and them actually being “deadly.” Is that really a thing?
i added bulk reef supply magnesium weeks ago and now when i test it doesnt go below 1450-1500. Can someone tell me if its normal for mag to stay in the water for so long?Magnesium! My magnesium just randomly disappears...
Yes. Magnesium is used significantly slower than alkalinity and calcium.i added bulk reef supply magnesium weeks ago and now when i test it doesnt go below 1450-1500. Can someone tell me if its normal for mag to stay in the water for so long?
They say as you age, you're trapped in a 18-22 year old mentality when it comes to things.I blinked my eyes and my youth just disappeared. I'm reminded of the mini-series "The Thorn Birds" with Richard Chamberlain where near the end of the series, when all characters were up in years, the now old woman (Mary (Barbara Stanwyck)), told Richard, something like I'm a young woman trapped in an old body. Well, that's me!
You're as young as you feel....so I must be 197They say as you age, you're trapped in a 18-22 year old mentality when it comes to things.
