I am going to be 100% honest. The instructions that come with the reef-n-roll REALLY are lack luster. The video on their website is less than helpful. BUT with all that being said I emailed the email address that was on the website and I mean within a minute or so I got an email from the owner and he literally walked me through step-by-step on assembly for my specific model and then I was having issues with the motor that reels the used filter up. He informed me that sometimes due to the tight tolerances they bind up so I just needed to use a little grip strength and get it to turn just a hair and well that did the job.

As far as the water level sensor yes there is one that is actually adjustable. I have attached some pictures that I just took.

Img_0181 - is the controller board. That thing is quite intuitive and if the unit detects an error it will sound an alarm.
Img_0180 - is a picture of the motor that spins and spools the nastiness that is filtered out.
Img_0179 - Is a picture of the level sensor. When the water comes into contact with that sensor it will roll according to the way you personalize it. I personally have it set to roll a small amount just enough so the water level goes down.

As far as setting it up. Heck if you’re having a tough time I am happy to help you set it up.
Do you still have the original tabs in the 1st chamber or do you have to remove them?

This is extremely helpful!

I literally did nothing to the tank. When I first got it I used the filter socks that it came with while I was waiting for a filter cup. Then I found the filter roller and ordered it straight away. When it came in I removed the filter socks/cup holder thing that came with the tank and dropped the bottom bracket from the roller into that chamber then I assembled the actual roller and plugged everything in. It was that simple.

I'm seriously considering replacing the AI Prime 16hds with the newly release AI Edge 44. I figure it would be a better blanket of lighting coverage with few shadows.
I am actually trying to decide on adding the Hydra 44HD as well. I am working with AI to find out if running their HMS multi light hanger mounts and then using the hms cross bar thingy to run my 12” Blade Grow then the Hydra 44HD then the 12” Blade Grow. I currently run 2x 12” Grows.

Sunday water change completed. Coraline Algae is spreading everywhere, which is my first time ever having coraline!

I’m really trying to figure out the best fish/invertebrate for hair algae. I don’t have a lot of it, but it is there and I’m tired scraping it off with a toothbrush weekly lol.

The Chalk Basslet is AMAZING. The colors and personality are unbeatable.

Will likely be switching from filter floss to a Red Sea nano reefmat soon.

Was having a small aiptasia outbreak, bought a peppermint shrimp, and ole shrimp buddy made short work of destroying the aiptasia population! The copepod population has EXPLODED. I see them all over the glass at night.

Thinking of getting a court jester goby! The hair algae has completely died back and the 10 trochus snails are keeping the regular diatom algae at bay!

So, I was having really good success then one of my Nero 3s went out and then my other went out shortly after. Although, they lasted a solid 4 years, so I'm happy with that. I'm really debating getting a single Nero 5 or just making the change to Ecotech. Yes, I understand they are owned by the same parent company now, but I'm really debating an XR 15 and MP10 or a Hydro 44 and a Nero 5.

Update on my parameters:
Nitrate: 0.00
Phosphate: 0.02
Alkalinity: 7.9
Calcium: 470
Magnesium: 1180

So, I definitely need to increase my nitrates and magnesium considerably. I just have to find the best way raise them slowly and without a ton of algae growing.

I feed TDO pellets daily and Reef Roids once a week.

Also, about to start running some carbon as my water is getting slightly yellow. I was running filter floss, but it was clogging too quickly and messing my water levels up, so I removed that completely.

I may stick without any mechanical filtration in order to grow my nitrates? Any thoughts to that?

Once again, I appreciate all feedback!

Just got the RedSea Nano Reefmat installed with the 3D piece to make it fit in a WB20. Going to see how that comes out. I also bought an AI Nero 5, that I’m going to place in the back wall, and a Sicce Shark 150 to use when I need to

The Nanomat has been walking pretty well with the 3d printed adapter. I'm going to be adding a new rock section on the right side of the tank and I changed my lighting slightly. I'll give a better update and photo once I build the new rock structure and place it in the tank.

I've really not loved this aquascape due to the lack of height on the left, which is why I've decided to make a really flat staircasing structure. I plan to move the Nero 3 to the bottom left once I place the new scape and have the Nero 5 on the backwall.

It's been difficult giving this tank the attention it deserves while the family is growing but I've scheduled time each day to really sit and put time into the tank. I'm hoping to have this little tank packed out with small colonies by RAP next year.

I started with the wb20 cube back in 2022. I am reliving the memories with your build. Flow is just hard with the dimension. What I know worked for me is a Nero 3 mounted under the overflow and another Nero 3 at the bottom right corner. This way I was able to break up the constant flow from the return pump (used AI Axis 20).

Yeah, I'm finding flow to be a bit of an issue, but we'll work it out! I have a Nero 5 under the return nozzle and the Nero 3 at the top right (as the picture above) but will have to move it. I'm really looking to keep LPS. Honestly, I'd be happy to keep anything alive outside of my chalice coral and zoas!

I suggest you to change your flow from Nero to gyre type. Because your tank is so small in dimension…. Gyres will give you better gentle broader flows… specially if you are planning to keep SPS.

I had 3 Nero 3 I. 24 gal 18”x18”x18” as well as 3 mp10’s(still have two of ‘em but not in use). Currently have 3 Red Sea wave 25 but I have hygger gyre for while.

I have 3 Nero 3 I. 24 gal 18”x18”x18”. Mp10’s and Nero is not recommended if you can change out to gyre type.
I really wanted to keep some beginner SPS but I think I’ve changed my mind to just basic, easy to keep, LPS. A gyre style does intrigue me though!

What gyre would you recommend?
I’ve used hygger’s and now I use red sea wave 25’s. Hygger has the smallest foot print (in the market from my research) but is not suitable for heavy usage. I used it for SPS tank and it started giving errors a lot.

Red Sea wave is more controllable. I use forward and reverse mode.

following though this build and it looks amazing! exactly what im looking for starting out. If i could ask a question , what is the purpose of this item on your build list ? "Trigger Systems Crystal ATO 5 Gallon", and is it necessary if im just starting with live rock and soft corals but no fish?
