If you are able DYI is the best IMO. I have maxspect mazarra p-series. The main problem I have with them is the color ratio. The spectrums they run is the best. RB, BL, UV, CW, WW, they use warm whites instead of reds and yellow which enough of that color is in the warm spectrum. The royal blue to blue ratio should be closer to 3:1, stock it comes 1:1 (for the best growth).

i grew sps really well with just the basic china led ones.
mine were 2blues to every 1 white. it was a nice 20k look.
if i was going to do it again with those ones i would go 50/50 and get the ones what have the control knob on the back for whites and blues...
ebay i thinku can get them for 200ish... not possitive tho.
if u go high end i would say the ai vega blues... i love thoses leds to much.

This question about affordability would all depend on what you consider affordable.

Rapid DIY imo

I prefer Binned Cree XT-E LEDs...

Some Cool Whites are a tad too yellow for my taste...

With the right recipe of binned LEDs you dont need the tertiary LEDs for looks.

I prefer to use Phillip rebels in all my builds. I feel they are superior to Cree and they're cheaper ;)

Stevesleds.com is a great place to buy from.

I also build leds if anyone is interested, I can build you a quality light with a nice enclosed heatsink for under $200. It is very slim and hides everything.
