I recently made and online purchase for a Paracheilinus Cyaneus yesterday (got it today) however, I received something different...Not entirely sure what he is but he is too big for my current tank. He also appears to have some white on his upper lip as well.

ID on this little fella? Came in as C. sp but looks to be a flasher wrasse of some kind. Currently about 1.5”

It was cheap. I should have gone with my gut and grabbed her. I'm just not an expert with wrasse IDs, and I didn't want to end up with some Thalassoma spp that I didn't want. Was labeled as 'blue head wrasse.'

I don't blame you; shouldn't ever buy something you're not sure about. :)
blue head wrasse
And that common name is a problem, as that one typically does map back to a Thalassoma.
The common name for C. cyanopleura is "blue sided wrasse".

As I've said many times, common names are terrible - don't trust them. :D

I came across this photo when i was looking through pseudojuloides on Google. I was just wondering if anyone was able to ID the species. Im not sure if it even is a pseudojuloides, but idk enough to tell.

Halichoeres burukae. I've never seen it offered in the hobby.
Small typo; "burekae".
Oh cool, Thank you very much, i never imagined it would be a halichoeres. Definitely a new favourite for that genus.
Halichoeres is a mess. This is a species of a distinct sub-group that will definitely be split off, someday.
Is it unobtainable or is there a chance it will get collected still.
Doubtful.

Oh right that makes sense

Yea i didnt think it would be likely to be collected, but was hoping it could be lol. Thank you.

Why isnt it collected? Is it just too restricted in range
