Lets see some DIY finished stands

So, im trying to decide on how to finish my 400gal tank stand. Let see some pics!!!

ATM im planning on have drawers and center pull out steps, with 500lb capacity drawer sliders. Outside will be finished in white acrylic maybe?

snap, what did you finish it with? Im trying a test sample today. Squeegeeing epoxy over good one side plywood/ then sand prime and paint.

yeah that goes double, we want to refinish more cabinets and THATS the finish, so do tell

Satin black cabinet paint applied with one of my spray guns. You can actually see the compressor in the photo. Inside is finished white and water tight. It'll hold 2-3 gallons of water should there be a leak or an overflow (ask me how I know).

Thanks for sharing these. I'm in the idea stages of the stand I plan to build and we have the same trim around our house as you do on your stand. I was already thinking about doing the exact thing you are doing here and now I get to see it before I have to commit to it!

I went cheap lol and just wrapped in a table cloth. But it works!

Yes... sprayed and sanded, sprayed again, light sand, paint... sand...

Now that is something special. Would love to see more photos or details on the build process, do you have thread? How did you create the reclaimed wood look? Also that Maranta looks too beautiful to be real

Unfortunately, I got this tank and stand second hand, so there's no build process. It's a very simple design though. Was going to explain how it was built, but came across this picture which is almost the same design the previous owner used:

I believe in my case the tank rests on a plywood sheet on top of those green (and center blue) beams. The entire outside of the stand was made with scaffolding board (unsure if that's what it's called).

The current look was a bit of an experiment actually. Originally, the wood was painted a sort of bluish gray (you can still see it on the bottom beam), which I very coarsely sanded leaving a mixture of gray stains and the original beige sort of color of the wood. I then gave it a thick coating of oak varnish and very finely sanded that as well.

Both the electrical box and ATO cover got the same treatment, except for the missing gray paint. Eventually I spray painted all the hinges and nobs black instead of the aluminium look they had to better match my living room.

And you're right, that Maranta is fake :p I wish mine used to look as good (before my cat demolished them)!

And you're right, that Maranta is fake :p I wish mine used to look as good (before my cat demolished them)!

Pretty much same design I used with mine except I did not use the green or upper blue brace.
