LiveAquaria website down?

Fortunately, I discovered an online retailer that has an amazing selection, the absolute lowest prices, high quality, 14 day no hassle guarantee, and the best customer service I’ve ever experienced. I’ve conducted over a dozen orders and have spent just under $6K with them over the last three years. I only go elsewhere for high demand items for which I can’t pass up (e.g. baby Clown Triggers).
well, don't keep us in suspense!

I'm only providing the name(s) because you asked.

I use NYAquatic.com for 95% of my online fish purchases. Mike and Leah are amazing! Mike has called me several times to apologize for any issue with my order or to Facetime with me so I can select the specific fish I want when there is a meaningful difference between items in inventory. Their live sales are epic, and you can watch them feed each fish and request a specific fish get fed again, so you can select the specific fish you want while paying half the price others charge for a blind, sight-unseen fish.

I've been very impressed with them.

Of the online retailers I've used, here is how I would rank them.

1. NYAquatic (best price, best selection, high quality, and unbeatable customer service/experience)
2. Aquarium Arts Online (OK prices, good selection, good quality fish, poor customer service, elite job with packing and optimizing shipping costs)
3. Violet Aquarium (HUGE WYSIWYG selection without a meaningful premium, mediocre customer service {they had poor communication around shipping and didn't deliver one of my items, but charged me, it was a plant, so I didn't feel like going through the hassle over a plant.}, good quality fish)
4. LiveAquaria (Very good selection, poor fish quality, OK pricing, terrible customer service)
5. SaltwaterFish.com (GROSSLY OVERPRICED!)

I've also used Biota, but they are a specialized retailer, so I don't include them in this list. They did have a nice customer experience. Unfortunate for me, I didn't QT the fish because they were captive bred from a very high quality retailer, it cause a velvet outbreak and several thousand dollars down the drain in 2.5 days. I blame myself for not doing a full medicated QT. It was an expensive lesson to learn.

I'm not saying I've never had a DOA or received a sick fish, but those experiences were/are rare for them, and when they occur, Mike and Leah are quick to correct the issue in a hassle-free manner.

I’m glad you had good experiences with them.

All my experiences were when they were Fosters and Smith. I found the fish quality to be poor and the customer service to be even worse.

I can only speak to my experiences but I am truly happy that you had good experiences.

BRS has good deals on frozen fyi. I buy in bulk from them and it’s always arrived super frozen still. Also fun to play with dry ice after and the kids love it.

Just checked their frozen out. Double the price of what LA used to sell. I’m sure the shipping is also expensive in comparison. Oh well…

Did you see my post?

I quit BRS after they bought marine depot. We are really running out of decent aquatic shops.

Better Aperture buying them then the others that were trying to

Marine Depot was selling to anyone that wanted to buy them and that includes huge corporations not in the industry at all

I don't see how that would be any worse than what happened. Aperture bought and shut MD down. At least if someone else bought them they may still be open and competing with other retailers instead of being eliminated?

MD was toast. At least a company who knew what they were doing could continue on with AquaMaxx (now AquaReady)

if you guys are looking for a good frozen source, i use brineshrimpdirect.com, they have a great selection of high quality stuff.

If you guys have the ability to something like LiveAquaria did with the quick reference information on fish, that would be amazing!
I mean.. I could code up a quick HTML website for a few fish. But it'd take a while.. a long long while. I could probably code a full website that just has quick references like they do in about 2-3 weeks non-stop.

Yeah, I used them in the past but their shipping prices have gone thru the roof. Like $90-135 just for shipping!
