Where do you guys buy your colonies or mini colonies? Looking into getting some either from online, other reefers, or even maybe from a mariculture place. Experienced keeper here so I’m up for the challenge of something maricultured but obviously aquacultured is a plus! Any recommendations??

They are risky. I've had 2. One lasted less than a week. The other RTN'd after a few months.
Some have success with them, but not me!
Hm, I was just wondering why that's the case after reading this thread. Aren't most frags solds at LFS' wild or maricultered that were importing from the Indo-pacific? And those seem to be fine with most reefers, right?

So, why would it be any different finding success with a small wild colony ordered through DD. Larger Acro corals don't ship as well? But don't LFS's purchase the colonies then frag them up themselves? Could it be that DD just don't take that great of a care with their Acro colonies?

I’ve read threads of reefers getting full white dead acros from DD. My guess is they use old pictures or bad shipping practices

That's a good question. There seems to be a few opinions out there as to why they are so finicky, but I don't think anyone disputes the fact that aquacultured pieces are much more hardy.
I'm sure some more experienced reefers will chime in here and give you some better answers.

Those are colonies??? Consider them chunky frags! Beautiful pieces but that isn't a colony

Correct, which is why I wrote "chunks" figured OP might want to see them.
