I was wondering that the fact you feed some LPS corals is how they rid themselves of the waste? And if they do rid this waste is it toxic to other members of the tank?

So you have seen them expel waste. In what manner is this happening? Are they just expelling excess food from which they were fed or in some other fashion? If other than just excess food waste which I know can present tank problems the question still remains is if food is digested and for a lack of a better wording is digested food waste? If this does in fact happen. It seem like what goes in must come out in some form.

If i overfeed reef roids they will spit it out later undigested. Sometimes they expel a gray color film that I believe is just coral poop. Also to note, if they re expelling a dark color slime Its most likely zooxanthellae that they don't need usually from being over lit and having too much nutrients in the water.

That’s interesting. I wish they had a study to show what is happening just like what you noted. Thanks for the observation.
