Yesterday was my first waterchange on the 35. I started testing before, noticed a little ammonia and slight nitrates. Zero nitrites. Figured a bucket would be sufficient for now. I was testing from the return chamber of the AIO and I have no idea if that makes a difference. It was just easier lol. So far all the corals moved over seem good. No signs of dinoflagellates either. Pics!

Nothing new to report tank wise today, but I do have unflattering photos of everyone lol. Please ignore the water level in some, they evaporate quite swiftly and were due the top offs. I could have snapped pics after but I thought I’d show “dirty glass” lol. No pics of the 70, it’s got about two inches of water and covered in seran wrap for now.

Alien betta. Currently unnamed. He seems to be sinking a bit less lately so I’m hoping he will continue to improve.

Reef! Hubbs said he thinks this one looks much better than the 70 did. Told me to fill the other up with something like angelfish. No thanks lol.

Anywho, after the pics I wiped glass and topped everyone up. This was more to show some that while they usually look nice, it’s not always like that and I do have to maintain them no matter how planted or “low tech” they are.

I’ve been slack on the updates and I’m so sorry. We found out last week mother in law has cancer in her throat? I think esophagus but I’d need to confirm. Answers some questions but it makes me angry that they called her to let her know over the phone instead of asking her in to tell her in person. Today she called and was told it’s stage 3. She’s in her 70s so I don’t know if they can do anything due to age or even if she wants to. So y’all just think about her and pray if that’s something you do.

On the fishy side I finally ordered my lid. That’s exciting. It’s for the 35, but that’s the current reef until I can get the 70 back up and going. For now it’s full of RODI water and I stuffed some plants in there just to have something to look at.

I'll pray for you all.
Thank you. Hubbs is taking it as well as he can. MIL says she’s not afraid, but she worries about her son. I’m so lost on what to do to help either of them out and my daughter is having panic attacks because she feels she didn’t get enough time with her grampa and feels that she won’t have enough time with her grandma.

Best we can do is be there for each other, mend any fences that need it and tell stories. If it's not the end, all the better.
Very true. We all get along great, she’s such a wonderful person. She’s supported my addiction to fish probably more than her son lol. She has lived with us since my daughter was four so about 20 years? But she recently moved in with her cousin because she had lost her husband to the same type of cancer she’s going through, and doesn’t like to be alone. Plus she has skin cancer of a few types. So she went to help her there. We naturally want her to come home. I don’t think she will leave her cousin like that and try to explain to Hubbs it’s a bit selfish to ask since she’s there for companionship and Charlene is going through a lot. I told him if the dogs weren’t so rude we’d just love them both in here. Charlene doesn’t like the girls though, melody is loud and pushy.

Went to visit mother in law yesterday. The cancer is esophageal, low down near her stomach. The drs seem confident they can remove it, and the procedure the other day said he didn’t see any more around. Tuesday she goes for a whole body scan so will see if it’s spread anywhere further. She’s in great spirits, but of course tires easily.

When I got home I snapped some pics of the reef. None are great cause they won’t sit still XD.

I noticed hair algae in the return chamber in the back, but so far none in the display.

Oh. And test results are as follows:

Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 2
Phosphate: 0
Salinity: 1.028
Alk:6.8

I’m wondering if my all is so low
Cause the seran wrap over the top. Corals seem ok, nice and open. The calurpa is spreading out of the box.

Woke up this morning to find LL on the bottom of the tank belly up.

Her lateral line and some of her head seemed a little discolored. I’m thinking somethjng spooked her in the night and she absolutely flipped out. Atlas also showing some damage to his face. Atlas is a very dramatic fish so how he wasn’t spooked to death and she was, I have no idea. She was pretty calm and very outgoing. Sigh.

Please ignore the lines on his scales it’s just reflection from his screen too. However you can see some damage below his eye and nest his big ole mouth. And yes he really is a sad potato. He’s always a sad potato.

There's somethings you can't do anything for. Just sitting with them and being silent is all they want. Just being with them.
My cousin lost her husband in a car accident. She said the best person was grandpa. He didn't say anything just sat on a porch swing with her.

That’s very true. We run out of things to talk about pretty swiftly lol. But I do update her on the tanks (she’s always been supportive of them) and tell her that I get yelled at by Melody (truth) because she’s not home giving her her cracker (also true lol)

Today we will learn more, she has the full body scan(?). Drs think that it’s an easy procedure, which is a plus. She is willing to do the surgery I think. I’ll update as I find out.

She finally let her brother know; she was worried about stressing him. His wife has cancer and his oldest boy does as well. Plus his youngest has had kidney troubles. She didn’t want to lay more at his feet.

I’m going to have to get her to sit down and play some animal crossing with me again.

My kraken reef cup will be here tomorrow! :D

Also and more importantly, today is mother in laws birthday, and she got some news the other day. The full body scan results came back. They said that there was no other areas of concern, and that the one area isn’t red. It’s an easy grab, and they seen no complications. Also they downgraded her from stage three to two!

We are very thankful for all the prayers thoughts and well wishes. Truly blessed with this news.

What an awesome thing to wake up to! I’ve been telling Hubbs, who’s still asleep kinda. His lack of enthusiasm…

Anywho, that’s one part of the refresh on the 70 taken care of! Now all I need is sand, rock, skimmer and…. That’s it. Oh. A lid lol.

Speaking of, the kraken for the 35 will be here Monday, the day before my anniversary.
