Saturdays are maintenance days usually. The 35 is pretty stable so I’ll just do a couple tests. I don’t want to touch it and it get tossed out of balance. I’ve not done a waterchange on this thing in months and it seems to work for this one. I have been giving some quantum? I’ll have to look at the bottle. All corals seem happy with it. Fish fed daily on a cube of PE mysis.

I’ve noticed the sand sifting star is losing some girth in his legs and I’m thinking it’s because there’s so much rock that he’s not got a lot of sand to sift. I may move him into the 70 but I worry it may not be enough to sustain him. He’s my husbands critter and he’s lived with us for years. Much longer than people say they will.

I’m kind of at a stand still in the big one otherwise. Waiting on the skimmer pump but also I’m trying to find some rock. I won a 60 dollar gift card for Amazon and I’m not sure what to buy lol.

I need some more “All for reef” for the little tank. On the LBAL tank I need a wave pump, sand, rock, lid. Of which the lid will be the last simply cause cords. I can get the wave pump I saw on Amazon but if I win the tunze…. lol. I could probably use both. I also need another algae scraper. This mag float is too small. The flipper nano is perfect on the 35 and I think the next size up would do well for the 70. Also I need a lid and a filter/ heater for the 10 gallon.

Off topic, sorta my weekly YouTube browsing has made me discover Hello Reef and I thought that would be super cool for the grand, but he isn’t so much a fan of clowns or saltwater. I then discovered they have a GloFish kit lol. Tanks look like the IM 15 gallon. What delighted me was the clownfish kit was pretty much full of everything you need, Sans fish, water and skimmer. Though I was a bit deflated when reading on the GloFish kit it was a few branches and plastic plants. Sigh. I wish I could tell them to add extra coupons to a plant website for some anubias or Java ferns. It would be a Mich better kit and waiting while it cycled would be fine without the live plants.

Let’s build some kits to sell y’all! (I’m kidding. I’m too poor to start a business)

Anyways, I need Amazon money spending influence. I have a budget of just 60 USD and no prime because, like I said I’m poor lol.

Anyone have any recommendations for a replacement pump? This things DOA. Tried to soak it in citric acid, no bueno. There seems to be electricity between the connectors, as I can hear it when I plug the power supply into the cord. However there’s not so much as a buzz or a slight vibration to the pump itself
So yo hear. Maybe check some USA online stores for a replacement?? Might be worth a try.

Any ideas? I have searched but I’m not sure exactly what I’m looking for. Searching the brand name brings nothing up so I’m thinking I’ll need a different one.

I think you can get AFR on amazon? :thinking-face: I know the powder goes a lot further than the liquid too, if that's available.
It is. I’m debating that vs the wave pump. I guess the pump could wait since there’s no stock in the tank.

So here’s a few things I’m looking at. First off is a pump that may fit the skimmer. I measured the broken one and the smaller one seems about the same size for the most part. But it doesn’t seem as powerful. The second size up is a little larger, but it is also a lot stronger. I don’t know enough about skimmers and I do know that you cannot adjust the speed. Also from my experience with the skimmer I recently sold, it’s not “silent” https://a.co/d/cs9jRMz

And then the wave pumps I’m looking at are:
https://a.co/d/cOxTf8R or
https://a.co/d/0jGzswA or

And finally the AFR powder.

I’m just not sure what to get first. I was able to yesterday get about 22 lbs of rock(added with what I had is right at 40) and another bag of sand. So now I can go ahead and get this thing going for realsies. But… idk what should be gotten first? The skimmer pump or the wave maker. Or the all for reef for the other tank. lol.

I've used Jebao, that's what my gyre is on the peninsula. No issues. I think a few of the guys use Jerepet, also no issues. The one I'm hunting for out of my stuff is a hygger - I've never used them for bigger tanks but I liked the tiny one, put out a ton more power than I expected. Only problem was/is it doesn't hold my preferences if the power goes out.

Ao really any of those wave makers would do what I want, it’s just which is prefer :thinking-face: I could probably do that for now, and wait and see if the Tariff situation gets fixed for the proper pump on the skimmer. I wouldn’t mind paying shipping for them depending on cost for sure but I will give them some time to sort it out before bothering them again. From what I recall a skimmer isn’t necessary until the tank is cycled, correct?

if replacing a skimmer pump, its important it have a needle wheel impellor. something that will froth up the air with the water. I don't think a regular circulation pump will work in a skimmer.

Skimmer is never truly necessary - it is helpful though. Skimmers do help aerate the water and they can be helpful by pulling particulates out of the water column thus helping lower nutrients.

Welcome to my waterbox adventure!

Many of you know I won the newest @Waterbox Aquariums contest: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/the-waterbox-70-2-reef-system-giveaway-ahhh-yea.635666/ I am beyond shocked that I won and even more excited to begin this adventure. This will be my new tank build thread, in which I will edit my taggy thing above for this one.

My first plans are to locate the perfect spot. I don’t want it where the 60 was; the floor is a bit weak there with no plans in the near enough future to replace and once this goes up I’d rather not move it. So this gives me the living room. I will be measuring pros and cons of both potential spots. I am thinking of painting a mural behind the spot before it arrives.

Thanks to @RichtheReefer21 for the name suggestion! Anyhow, stay tuned! I am sure I’ll have a tons of questions, and photos to share.
Congratulations on the win! Look forward to seeing the tank build!

It’s an OIAIO. I’m thinking my best bet will be an SCA pump.
