made a DIY CA glue accelerator

so about to start my aquascape and i made a DIY accelerator. I did not test it on rocks yet, but a few nails using the BRS supper glue. 1st thoughts is I like it.
might play around with the formula tho.

anyone make and use a DIY CA glue accelerator?

I have used just baking soda in water. I used that on model planes though.

I just finished my scape. I just bought a couple 8 oz bottle of this. Way cheaper then the brs selling. I scared for a 66g and used about 6 oz of accelerator and about 12oz of super glue.

yeah that pretty much is my formula. I might include some alcohol i'll have to test ans see.

yeah I almost bought some of the BSI accelerator they i decided to make my own. we shall see.

We are still learning a lot ourselves actually, but from we can see - our thin is used for constructing aquascapes with sand, since at 5 cps its super viscous. For corals and rocks - usually our thick - which currently in 8oz bottle has 700cps and super thick at 1500 cps in 16oz. It also depends on the substrate type and set up time that you want to have. From thin to thick initial cure range is seconds to minutes. Hope this helps)

I know this a dumb question but is there a spray application for the thin stuff? I fell that would work good. Spray the surface then splatter sand and spray over sand again?

2 points on aerosol solution - ca is already a hazmat item with a flashpoint of 93f but if you add pressure to the mix, its even more dangerous. For unification of applications, classic bottle is more convenient. One thing we do for instance is do not fill it up to the top, only 2/3rd of the bottle for more controlled flow. Also, with spraying solution, even with a manual pump, you have a risk of overspraying and gluing things you did not intend to )). Our accelerator is a pump spray, however.

ah that makes since the thinker the glue the longer it tanks to set up.
my DIY accelerator works great on the thick stuff to get the out side to start to cure but the inside is still setting up. no big deal just menas I have to hold it for a bit longer.

depends....
how much supper glue to use what thinness and how much accelerator you use.

I used BRS think glue and only used the accelerator mosly on the outside. I know Ryan -BRS says to spray both sides IDK if its needed.

anyway I held on average 30-60sec. nor 100% sure as I never really timed it. but once it applied it turn the glue white but there is still flex on the inside so I held it to be sure.
