LOL, I have a reefing buddy that likes to spend my $$ on reefing equipment. A controller is a must:) I have had tanks on an off, I would not have another system without a controller.

They are nice. Thinking of selling 2 complete apex and replacing with them. The one on my nem tank is chugging along just fine. In the same time, I have had to repair one eb8 on an apex with less total wattage running than on the power bar for the hydros.

For me it's flexibility and price, they have a ton of accessories and add ons as well as multiple entry level kits that makes startup costs much more manageable. I know that just by looking at some of there products, like there power bar for instance. They aren't the same level quality wise as say GHL. They look like rebranded Teckin strips. But, an entry level Hydros setup that can do AWC, temp and PH probes plus control two other power heads and have 2 spare 120v outlets is the same price as one GHL powerbar, JUST the power bar.

I agree. I was looking at going ghl and decided to try hydros, just for the cost. Being as I have 8 separate systems, hydros makes sense if it works well. I have 3 apex currently. 2 full systems and 1 el. Plus breakout boxes, lunar kits, light modules, etc etc. tons of money in it and numerous failures here and there. Don’t get me wrong, Apex replaced everything under warranty without issue, but for the price of hydros I could have 2-3 spares around for the same price.

As for rebranded power bars, I have some teckin and other WiFi strips that are in my shop and had the crap beat out of them and keep on working. So that doesn’t really bother me.

Time will tell though and why I have the hydros on the nem tank. Due to being almost 500 gallons of actual water, is the most forgiving of the tanks I have.

I had no idea that they made a control system. I thought it was Neptune and Apex and a diy of pi
