got the ballast but unfortunately the bulb didn't fire... I'm in the process of acquiring another Radium bulb so I'm hoping it'll work this time... I'll keep you guys posted.. :)

Evc e ballast i believe. It would spark but then nothing else.
I dunno if the ballast will fire it or the bulb is bad. I had no way to test it.
I am leaning to the ballast not being able to fire it.
I think ya need an HQI ballast for the 250 marv as I believe they are HQI rated.
The 400's are a diff story.

pretty sure an icecap will fire a 250w radium bulb.......

Well its reccomended that you use a pulse start ballast and those are euro style ballasts as we use probe start. The flickering in marvs halide would explain this happening. JMO
Now the 400 Galaxy eballasts are the only ones i have heard being reccomended for the radiums besides HQI M135 (400W) M138 (250W)in marvs case.
I dunno about icecap firing them, I just never seen people stating they have radiums and an icecap ballast. The majority are HQI or Gallaxy Eballats or a plain pulse start ballast. I guess if the galaxy can fire them the ice cap could too, But i also read that the galaxy fires them at a better wattage if i remember correctly.

Hey guys! Marvin is using an Icecap ballast now that I used to use for 250w Radiums. I think its a bad bulb, because the Icecap ballast runs fine.

yup, got the IceCap now and bulb still didn't fire up.. when I tried to switch the bulbs to 15k XM's, fired right up... I'm scheduled to get the new Radium in a week or two.. :)

interesting...you could always send me the bad bulb....and i can see if it will fire on the HQI (just to get it started).

IME with the radiums...they seem to have a little more trouble firing for the first time. the electronic ballast may not have enough "kick" to get it going if there is a lose connection.

I agree, I think if it's flickering it may not be getting enough juice.

I'm getting a replacement bulb in the next week or two.. whenever I get the time to ship this one back... :)

Kevin, most of my Aussies are fairly new since I had a make over the past few months... it's too early too tell how much growth I have.. maybe in a few months, I'll have a before and after shot to see growth progression... :)
